Unit 6 It’s raining!

一、教学背景

这一单元的中心话题是Describe the weather。语法现象是Present Progressive Tense。继Unit5 I’m watching TV第二次出现了现在进行时态,是上一单元的延续。

比较上一单元,本单元增设了一个日常生活中重要的情景Talking about the weather 。学生不但要具备并熟练地掌握现在进行时态的意识和技巧,并且要会运用这一时态描述在各种天气背景下人的活动。

二、 教材内容

本单元语言训练的重点是(1)谈论天气;(2)描述正在发生的动作。重点语言结构是(1)How引导的特殊疑问句;(2)Yes/No问句及答语;(3)现在进行时的用法。Section A主要是听读说和基础语言运用,为目标句型提供分步示例和指导性练习;Section B知识扩展、新旧知识的运用,循序渐进的写作练习;运用所学的语言完成各种任务使学生能够对已经学过的目标句型运用自如:Self -Check自我评价,词汇知识的评价,语言应用能力的评价。

三、 单元总体学习目标

1、词汇 基础核心词汇:sunny, cloudy, snowing, raining, windy, cold, hot, cool,

掌握:rain, snow, weather, cook, study, bad, pretty, lying, beach, group,

通过任务型的教学,让学生学会自主学习,归纳总结,培养主动学习的能力。尤其对所学内容能主动复习并加以整理和归纳的能力。

Ⅰ. Teaching aims

1. Knowledge

②Sentence structures: How’s it going? How’s the weather? What’s the weather like?

2. Ability: Talk about the weather and greet each other with a new structure.

3. Cultural awareness: A new way of greetings and asking about the weather is quite a common greeting in western countries.

ⅡImportant points: A new way of greetings and the description words about the weather.

Ⅲ.Difficult points: How’s the weather? It’s raining/windy/cloudy/sunny/snowing/. How’s it going? Great! /Not bad! /Terrible! /Pretty good!

ⅥTeaching procedures

Step1. Warming up

1. Ask the Ss randomly: What’s the date today? What day is it today? How are you?

2. Give a new expression which has the same meaning as How are you? : How’s it going? But the new one has more answers.

Step2. Presentation

1. Show 4 faces on the screen and ask Ss to describe each face using whatever words they can. Help Ss identify each person is feeling.

2. Then show 4 words. Say the words and ask Ss to repeat each one. Ask Ss to match each remembered phrase with a face. Encourage them to spell the phrases by How do you spell it?

3. Practice with the new structure by the whole class: Choose one to the front and the others guess the description words through his/her facial expressions.

Step3. Presentation

1. Let one student ask me: How’s it going? I may answer like this: Terrible! Because it’s snowing and it’s so cold. Show a picture of snowing day and children are making a snowman and pretend to be very cold. Make Ss guess the words: the weather and snowing. Ask them: How’s the weather? Get them to answer like: It’s snowing/snowy. Go on with other kinds of weather: sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy.

2. Point out the numbered list of description words. Say each one and ask Ss to repeat the words again. Then ask Ss to match each word with one of cities in the picture. Check the answers.

3. Play the tape and get Ss to write the city names in the boxes. Check the answers. Look at the 5 pictures in 1a. Encourage Ss to use the description words to describe the weather: ①Beijing—sunny and warm/hot ②Shanghai—cloudy and cool ③Boston—windy and cool ④Moscow—snowing and cold ⑤Toronto—raining and humid. Show an arrow to identify the degree of the 4 adjectives: cold, cool, warm and hot.

4. Practice with the structures: How’s the weather? and What’s the weather like? with the 5 pictures The exact weather on that day should not be missed. Note: Talking about the weather is quite common in western countries as a daily greeting.

Step4. Weather report

Show a weather map of China. Get Ss to make a weather report as a CCTV anchor. They may begin with asking the weather in each city, then make up a report about it.

Step5. Chant

Show an easy chant to reinforce the questions and words about the weather.

Step6. Homework

1. Copy the new words 4 times each. 3. Watch a weather report on TV and take down some notes about the weather forecast for tomorrow, and then write a report about it.

Section A 2a, 2b, 2c, 3b+ Grammar Focus

Ⅰ. Teaching aims

Step1. Warming up and revision

1. Daily greetings: How’re you today? How’s it going? How is the weather? Ask these questions randomly to the Ss to revise what they learned yesterday.

2. Point out the conversation in the large picture in 3b on P33 and ask two Ss to read it to the class. Practice it in pairs, then change some of the words and make their own conversations.

3. If Ss do quite well, show a piece of cartoon of the Snow-white and the seven dwarfs.

Step2. Presentation 1. After showing the cartoon, ask Ss: What are they doing? (They are singing and dancing.) Show more pictures with questions: What’s he/she doing? and What’re they doing? to get Ss to practice the tense which is the core grammar of this period. Section A(1a-1c)教学设计

一、教材分析

本单元是Go for it !(七年级下) Unit6。主要围绕“What are you doing?”这一主题展开各种教学活动,并以这一主题引出现在进行时的一般疑问句,否定句以及特殊疑问句等语言功能。本单元旨在创造一个轻松、愉快的学习、交流环境,通过听、说、读、写来培养学生综合运用这些知识的能力。并让学生能在“做中学”(learning by doing),通过有限的课堂实践活动,注意观察别人的行动,能准确地用英语来表达。Section A 1a--1c部分是本单元的第一课时,这一课时通过常见的一些动词短语引出现在进行时的教学,学好本课对以后的Section B部分的学习起了很好的铺垫作用。

二、学情分析

我所教学的对象是初一学生(以中等生为主),对英语普遍感兴趣,但有很大的不稳定性,好奇心强,求知欲旺盛,他们学习英语既感到好奇又担忧,希望能得到他人的肯定。因此我在教学活动中尽量让他们参与到活动中来,有更多的机会来说英语,减少他们的恐惧感,通过学生间的合作学习,降低他们的学习难度,使他们体验到成功的喜悦。提高他们综合运用语言的能力,使各层次的学生都有所收获。

三、教学目标

1.语言目标: Talk about what people are doing.

1)短语和单词:watching TV, cleaning, reading a newspaper, talking on the phone, listening to a CD, using the computer, making soup, washing the dishes, exercising

2)句型结构

What are you doing? I'm watching TV.

What'she/he doing? She’s /He's cleaning.

What are they doing ? They're exercising.

3)语法: The present Progressive (结构式:主语 + be + V-ing )

2.语言技能:

1)能用现在进行时的各种形式进行准确描述和表达正在发生的动作。

2)能掌握现在进行时态及一些表示具体动作的词组搭配,如: watching TV, cleaning„等。

3、学习策略:

通过本节课的教学,我要求学生在通过观察别人的行为和活动时能用现在进行时来准确地表达所发生或进行的动作。

4、情感态度:

通过对本单元的任务性活动,我的目的是能培养学生学习英语的强烈兴趣,乐于参加各种活动的积极情感,乐于合作,培养学生团结合作的精神。

四、教学重难点

1. 基于上述对教材的分析,我确定本节课的教学重点为词汇、词组搭配和现在

进行时的用法。

2. 教学难点为现在进行时中现在分词的结构及读音,能在交际中准确地运用现在进行时来描述或表达正在进行的动作。

Step3 Presentation (about 15 minutes)

1. Listen to a song.(听一首活泼愉快的歌曲,既能激发学生的学习兴趣,又能顺利地过渡到现在进行时的学习)

(我设计的任务是要求两个学生为一小组,进行问答练习。这样的活动既可以培养学生的合作意识,又能在情景中用现在进行时交际,巩固了本节课的重点,从而突破了难点,促使学生在学习过程中学会细心观察。)

1. Match the words with the people in the pictures in Section A( 1a)

2. Pairwork, ask and answer questions about the pictures. Ask some pairs to act out their conversations.(1c)

(让学生观察句子和现在分词形式分别总结出现在进行时的结构和怎么给动词 加ing,培养学生的观察能力和归纳能力。)

Step 6 Listening to 1b ( about 5 minutes )

接下来的任务型听力要求学生对动作作出反应,教师可承接刚开始的话题,引导学生根据所学语言完成以下任务:

1. What are the people doing?

2. Write numbers from 1a below.

3. Check the answers in pairs like this:

A: What is Jenny doing? B: He is watching TV.

A: What are Dave and Mary doing? B: They are listening to a CD. A: What is John doing? B: He is washing the dishes.

Ⅲ 现在分词的构成

① 一般在动词结尾处加ing Eg: go—going look--looking

② 以不发音字母e结尾的动词,去e加ing。Eg: write—writing close--closing

③ 以重读闭音节结尾的动词,如果末尾只有一个辅音字母,应先双写这个字母,再加ing.

Eg: get—getting run—running ( swim, run, put,get,sit,begin)

4.以ie结尾的动词,变ie为y,再加ing. (lie—lying, tie---tying)

Ⅳ 现在进行时的构成

肯定句: 主语+ am/is/are+ doing +其他+时状. Eg: He is doing his homework now.

否定句:主语+am/is/are +not+ doing+其他+时状. Eg: He is not doing his homework now.

一般疑问句: Am/Is/Are +主语+ doing+其他+时状?Eg: Is he doing his homework now?

肯定回答:Yes,主语 +am/is/are Eg Yes, he is.

否定回答:No, 主语+am not/isn’t/aren’t Eg: No, he isn’t.

【课文重难点】

1.clean

作动词,意为“打扫,清除”。

作形容词,意为“干净的,清洁的”,其反义词为dirty。

2.use

1.动词,意为“使用;运用”。use sth. to do sth.意为“使用某物做某事”。

2.介词with与in也有“用”的意思,三者之间的区别如下:

1.及物动词,意为“洗,洗涤”,后跟宾语。 wash an apple 洗一个苹果

2.不及物动词,意为“洗衣,洗澡,洗手”。 wash before a meal 饭前洗手 wash in cold water 洗冷水澡

3.名词,意为“洗,洗澡”。 Please give the car a wash. 请把车洗一下。

4.watch

1.look通常为不及物动词,强调“看”的动作,指“认真看”,在强调看某物/某人时,其后必须接介词at,才能带宾语,即look at。 Look at the map. 看地图。

2.see是及物动词,侧重于看的结果,意为“看见,看到”。see无进行时态。

3.watch作动词,意为“观看,注视”,多指观看运动着的事物,如电视、比赛、表演等,指怀着一种对某物欣赏的心情或一种学习的心情,注视着别人的行为或动作。

They are watching the stars. 他们正在看星星。

4.read主要强调“读,阅读”,在汉语中常翻译成“看”,多指看书、报纸、杂志等。

5.“主系表”结构

【教材原文】That sounds good. 那听起来很好。

本句是主系表结构的句子,sound为连系动词,意为“听起来”,其后常接形容词作表语。

6.just

just作副词,意为“只是,仅仅”,它还可意为“恰好,正好”。

7.时间介词at,in,on

1.at表示在某一时刻或某一时间点。 Let’s meet at six. 咱们六点见。

另外,at表示时间的短语还有:at noon(在中午),at midnight(在午夜),at the age of...(在...岁),at night(在晚上)。

2.in用在某一段较长的时间之前,意为“在...之内”。

在一日中的早上、下午、晚上用in;另外,在季节、月份、年、世纪前用in。

3.on表示在特定的某一天,具体到某一天的上午、下午或晚上也用on。

【注意】

表示时间的单词(词组)前有next,last,this,that,every等修饰语时,其前常不用介词。比较:

on Sunday evening 在星期天晚上 last Sunday evening 上个星期天晚上

8.house,family,home

1.house意为“家;房子;住宅”。多指居住的房屋或建筑。

Jim lives in a big house. 吉姆住在一幢大房子里。

2.family意为“家庭,家庭成员”,是集合名词,与房屋及设施无关。

How many people are there in your family? 你家有几口人?

【注意】family作主语时,谓语动词的单复数要视情况而定,表示整体时用单数,表示家庭成员时用复数。 Their family is a big one. 他们家是一个大家庭。

My family are very well. 我的家人身体很好。

3.home意为“家;故乡”,指一家人生活的处所,也可指一个人出生或长大的地方。它常常带有感情色彩,有使人觉得亲切、温暖的意味。

He often comes to my home for dinner. 他经常来我家吃晚饭。

【注意】home有时用作副词,此时前面不加介词to。

He goes home at five in the afternoon. 他下午五点回家。

9.other

1.用作形容词,意为“另外的,其他的”,后常跟复数名词。

Do you have any other books? 你还有别的书吗?

2.用作代词,其前要加the,指“(两个中的)另一个”。

There are two rooms in the house.One is big and the other is small. 这所房子有两个房间。一个大,另一个小。

【注意】

other的复数形式是others,表示“除去一部分以后的另一些,但不是剩下的全部”。

而the others则表示除去一部分以后,剩下的全部。

other与else都表示“其他的,别的”。

1.other通常用在名词的前面作定语。

Where are the other girls? 其他的女孩在哪里?

2.else通常用在不定代词或疑问代词的后面作后置定语。用在疑问副词后作状语。

一、语法讲解--现在进行时

(一)、定义

现在进行时表示现在(说话的瞬间)正在进行或发生的动作。

(二)、用法:

A表示现在( 指说话时) 正在发生的事情。

例:We are waiting for you.

B. 表示现阶段正在进行的动作,说话时未必正在进行。

例:Mr. Green is writing another novel.

C.已经确定或安排好的但不确定会不会发生的将来活动。

I'm leaving for a travel in Nepal next week.(我下周要去尼泊尔旅行)

We're flying to Paris tomorrow(我们明天乘飞机去巴黎)

(三)、构成

现在进行时的构成是:主语+be+v.ing〔现在分词〕形式

第一人称单数I+am+V-ing.

第一人称复数We+are+V-ing.

第二人称单(复)数 You+are+V-ing.

第三人称单数 He(She,It)+is+V-ing.

第三人称复数 They+are+V-ing.

(四)、句型变化

(1)肯定式:be+v-ing She is singing in the next room.

(2)否定式:be+not+v-ing The students aren’t cleaning the room.

(3)一般问句:be动词提前。

肯定答语Yes,主语+be; 否定答语No,主语+be not。

◇Listen! She is singing an English song.

(七)特殊情况

1、有些动词不能用进行时,know, understand, love, like, hate, wish, want,等等。这些动词通常用一般现在时表示说话时发生的动作。

She wants to buy a new bike.

2、一些表示位置移动变化的动词,如:go , come , leave , start, fly , move, begin , arrive, , stay, return 等,要用进行时态表示将来的事。如:

◇We are leaving on Friday.

我们星期五出发.

◇Are you going anywhere tomorrow?

◇Are you staying here till next week?

你打算在这里呆到下个星期吗?

◇Next month my family is moving to Beijing.

下个月,我家就要搬到北京去了。(搬的动作并非现在发生,而将在下个月发生。

二、当打电话时的特定用语:介绍自己时用“This is„”或“It’s„”;

问对方用“Is that„?”或“Who’s that?”

例如:1. This is Jenny. 我是詹妮。

2、Hello? This is Bob? Who’s that?喂?我是鲍勃,你是谁?

3、Hi, Bob. It’s Mike here.你好,鲍勃。我是迈克。

语言技能:

(1)能用现在进行时的各种形式进行准确的描述和表达正在发生的动作。

(2)能掌握现在进行时态及一些表示具体动作的词组搭配,如:watch TV, read

books, play soccer, talk with/ to , be boring, go to the movies, want to do sth.等。

(3)能在日常生活中恰当理解和运用本单元的话题范围内的单词和习惯用语。

2、情感目标:

三、教学策略:

(1)充分利用学生已有的知识和生活经验,创设生活化的真实情境,引导学生在运

用语言中学习语言,然后在学习新的语言知识后创造性地运用语言(在做中学,学了就用)。

(2)开展多种类型的任务型活动,提供给学生合作交流的空间和时间,促使学生为

完成任务和同学进行合作,为完成任务进行探究性学习。

四、教学过程设计

Step1. Warming – up

4. The teacher asks the students to give more verbs phrases and write them down on the blackboard.(show many pictures to help the ss.)

Step 2. Presentation

1 Match the words and the activities.

The teacher shows the pictures in 1a. Then, the teacher asks questions:

----What’s he doing? (Picture 1) ----He’s making a telephone call.

Ask and answer just like that, and finish 1a.(Ss can guess the meaning of doing

homework, watching TV, cleaning, eating dinner and reading.)

The Ss read these V-ing words after the teacher.

2 Teach the Present Progressive.

1).Introduction show more pictures to introduce the Present Progressive tense.

T: What’s she/he doing?(Help the ss to answer the questions and show the sentences)

2) Let the Ss to say what the Present Progressive is. (现在进行时表示现在正在进行或发生的动作, 它的表现形式为Be Verbs + V-ing ---- 这也即为它的结构式.)

3). Tell the difference

Write down the V-ing forms by another lines of go, watch, do, play and eat . Ask the Ss to have a look and find the difference between them. For example: go and going,

watch and watching, do and doing, etc. Then ask the Ss to read them again and do the following exercises (showing by flash card).
