《我不是偶像》 林志颖 大家好，我是林志颖。今天我要讲的是我不是偶像。十五岁那年我被广告商发现，于是我就变成了大家眼中的我，电视机里的这个林志颖，被大家认识二十四年，据说是不老的传说。

我很谢谢大家这样夸我，但是呢，我不是偶像，我是一个技术宅男，我是科技狂人，我可以用我的手机在这里控制我家里的一切电子设备，我只要按个钮，我客厅也可以变成一个正宗的KTV。

我不是一个偶像，我是一个赛车手，我可以置生死于度外去超越我的极限。在这次的车祸里面，我的脚断了三根，打了四根钢钉，那时候的我，一心只想要超越别人，却伤害了自己，后来我就不断的要求我去超越我自己，竟然就变成了拿二十座冠军奖杯的职业车手。 对于我身边的人，我更不是一个偶像，我完全是一个超级奶爸，做尽了不偶像的任何事情，我希望我是他的偶像，可是现在看来呢，他对赛车并没有很感冒，而且反而喜欢跳舞，而且还嫌我的舞步土，会土吗？根本不会，而且还教我跳街舞，我就天天陪儿子从客厅跳到厨房，真的是难死我了，超级奶爸不好当。

我不是一个偶像，我已经是为人夫了，所以我们的爱情并不是大家电视剧里面偶像剧式的那种浪漫的爱情故事，可以在街边拥吻，下绵绵细雨手牵手浪漫的过日子。我们永远都只能保持十米以上的距离，所以在这边我想跟我老婆说，“老婆，谢谢你，你辛苦了，我爱你。” 最后一条我不是偶像的理由，我记得我刚出道的时候，人家看到我都说，“哎，小志、小林、小朋友来来来”，但是零零跟九零后的同学们都说，“哎，颖叔出来玩嘛出来玩嘛”，你们看这还能叫偶像吗？偶像都变偶叔了。

《这“见鬼”的爱情》

今天我讲演的题目是《这“见鬼”的爱情》，我要讲的爱情故事，可能发生在我的身上，也可能发生在你的身上、你的身上，发生在每一个人的身上。故事全部都是真事，为了讲述方便，我用第一人称。

下面这段话我觉得是我知道的最牛的开场白，我和我老公第一次约会，吃的第一顿饭，我说的第一句话，我说“我没时间和你谈恋爱，我要结婚。”这句话说了你可能觉得我很二，但要知道那个时候，我刚刚结束一段长达六年的爱情，那六年我爱得小心翼翼，爱得委曲求全。我们很少见面，最常用的联系方式就是发短信，我总觉得一个男人对一个女人最大的承诺和赞美就是娶她。而我们之间从来不会谈这个话题，我很明白就是因为他不够爱我，就这样，我等了一年、两年，我想跟他死磕，但是六年过去了，我觉得我熬不住了，爱情慢慢地离我远去。再说我跟我老公那顿饭我们吃得非常非常的好，第二天，我们就各自回到自己的家乡，我们向各自的家人汇报情况，然后第三天我们双方的家长从各自的城市，千里迢迢飞到北京来见面，一个礼拜之后，我们就决定订婚了，又过了一个礼拜，我们就结婚了。要知道以前谁跟我说什么相亲，什么闪婚，我觉得很不靠谱，但是后来事实告诉我，所谓的一瞬，如果你碰对了人，那一瞬就可以成为永恒。话说那已经是四年前的事了，如今我们在一起，生活得真的非常幸福，有一个儿子，今年三岁。

还有一个故事，长达十年的时间，有一个人告诉我，他说他喜欢了我十年了，最初的一面，是在一个很多人、很多人的场合，他远远地看到我，那一瞬间，他的心动了一下，但是那个时候我完全没有注意到他的存在。这之后的十年，他认识了我身边几乎的所有的朋友、同事还有家人。其实我们有很多机会可以见面、可以认识彼此，但是每到这个时候，他都会放弃这样的机会。他对我说因为他明白，我是那个对的人，但那十年都不是对的时刻。于是那十年他就那样远远的，在很远的地方关注着我的一举一动，而我就这样经历着我的悲欢离合。

十年之后，我终于踉踉跄跄地开始自己的人生，而这个时候，他终于出现在我的面前。当我们第一次真正地面对面地坐下的时候，他很平静，我也很平静，但是我明白那一刻我们平静在外表，而内心都充满了沧桑。他跟我讲了这十年的故事，然后他长长叹了一口气说，“哎，这就是念念不忘必有回想。”

我想爱就是这样，在对的时间碰到那个对的人，你要有勇气，也要有运气。爱情有的时候，美得像夕阳一样，有些恍惚，它下去之后，你会有些绝望，以为它永远不会升起，可是第二天，太阳还会见鬼般地挂在空中，依然地明亮，依然地耀眼。我很骄傲，我有一颗赤子之心，它被玩弄过，被欺骗过，可能已经破碎不堪，但它依然跳动，依然爱着。的确，哪怕爱明天让你遍体鳞伤，但是今天你还是要爱，哪怕它只有一瞬间，因为在你爱的那一刻，这个世界

真的是无与伦比的美好。

《女人永远是最佳辩手》

今天要跟大家分享的是一个关于女人和辩论的故事，名字叫做《女人永远是最佳辩手》。我在辩论的赛场上拿过世界冠军，拿过全程最佳辩手，也算得上也是小有收获。但是，说实话有一件事情真的非常丢人，但是在这里我必须要向在座所有人坦白，就是在生活的辩场上，有那么一个人，我是从来都没有赢过，那个人就是我的老婆。所以不知道在座各位会怎么想，但是我本人是发自内心深处赞同一句话“女人永远是最佳辩手”。

但是凡事总有原因，为什么呢？后来我开始琢磨琢磨琢磨，我找到了第一层原因，男人总是输，那是因为男人总是讲道理。我有一个饱经沧桑和血泪的小小忠告，告诉在座所有的男士，就是当你面对女人的时候，你永远、永远不要试图讲道理，因为她们会坚信你解释就是掩饰，掩饰就是欺骗的开始。

我老婆有一次，她看中了一款包，她就把我拉过去，她想买，大家都知道全世界所有的女人喜欢的包只有两个特色，第一美，第二贵。当然女人会比较关注它的前者，男人呢，只能关注后者。所以我老婆一直在看那个包的时候，我也在一直在看那个包的价签，我在数，个十百千。我当时数着数着我崩溃了，我赶紧把她拉到一边，我背着这导购我拉到一边，我得说服她，我说“老婆，你知道咱们中华民族五千年最美的传统美德是什么吗？勤俭节约呀；你知道当今中国经济最欠缺的精神是什么精神吗？是支持国货呀。你看看这个包，你看看这个包的价格，你知道它成本只有多少吗，你知道它利润翻了多少倍吗？你冷静一下，你跟我一起深呼吸，你想想看，我们家庭现在的经济情况，我们的收入状况，你现在买这么一个包它理性吗，它负责吗，它是个现在我们应该有的选择吗？你这么漂亮一个大姑娘，你拎着这么一个包走在路上你遭贼惦记呀，你拎着这么一个包去单位你遭人妒忌呀，你考虑过单位和谐吗？你考虑过人际关系吗？你考虑过你办公室大妈的感受吗？”

我当时说实话，我上到民族情怀、消费理念，下到买这个包的性价比、收现比、收益比、风险比、收支状况对比，我慷慨激昂，鞭辟入里，我自己都已经快被我自己的沉稳跟理性征服了，然后、然后她只是看着我，眨巴着她的大眼睛，然后她问我说“是你的那些道理重要，还是我重要？（傻了吧）你说呀，说呀，说呀，说呀，你的那些唧唧咕咕、滴滴答答的臭道理、烂道理都比我重要一千倍、一万倍对不对。在你心里，我根本就不重要对不对，你根本就不爱我了，对不对？你之前要娶我的时候说的那些你爱我、你爱我都是骗人的对不对，你根本就不爱我了，对不对？”真的，她的眼泪当时已经快要飙出来了。各位，在座的各位，你说这个时候你除了宣布她是最佳辩手并且掏出银行卡给她颁奖之外，你还有任何其他的选择吗？

这是我总结的第一层原因，然后我往下深入的踏了一步，完了，我发现了事情的真相，女人永远是最佳辩手，就是因为女人根本就不是辩手啊，亲们，她们是评委呀，她们是在你们感情生活中判断对错输赢，选择最佳辩手的评委和导师呀。对不对，李咏老师，是不是？很多

时候如果您跟老婆有时候发生了争执，万籁俱静的夜晚，您看向身边的爱人的时候，有没有一种看着导师甚至是看着导演的这种感觉，对不对。当然对于我本人来讲，我是个辩手，作为一个辩手，大家想一想，还有比发现你的对方辩友其实是评委更深的悲哀吗？就在这一份浓的不能再浓的悲哀当中，突然有一个全新的观点，让我一下是灵台透亮，豁然开朗。 大家想一想，作为一个男人，咱们输，咱们输掉了一生的比赛，可是咱们赢，赢得了什么呢？那是一颗可爱的、俏皮的甚至有一点点蛮横的，但是从不遮掩、从不伪装的少女的心

啊。这个世界上，还有什么比一颗愿意陪伴你到终老的、真诚的少女的心更宝贵的东西呢？所以人生的辩场上，女人永远是最佳辩手，男人总是输，女人总是赢，那只是因为——爱！

《为了心中的号召》

其实在我刚刚接到《超级演说家》的邀请函时，正是我为了成绩而忙得焦头烂额的时候，爸爸看到我为了学习连自己最喜爱的演讲活动都无心参加，一气之下吼道“你是因为演讲而被关注的，又怎么能因为演讲而退缩。”是啊，我是退缩了，退缩的速度是那么的快，势头是那么的猛。

从九岁被封“演讲帝”到现在，四年已过，回想起登台的经历，年少出名并没有给我带来美好，因为小孩子们的特殊性总会被大肆宣扬，然后就需要在台上面临着来自四面八方的质疑，甚至是攻击。回到学校以后还要承受老师和同学们的冷嘲热讽，老师对我这种出行的行为极为愤怒，他们说“你这是丢下西瓜捡芝麻。”所谓的西瓜是大的，就是指我的学业，而所谓的芝麻是小的，就是指我出行的行为。而进入了初中，也许是我太想改变自己的形象，也许真的是上天眷顾于我，成绩名列前茅，受老师同学尊重，应试的紧张节奏成了享受，小学的交往饥渴，在这里得到偿还。我幸福地说，学校是个好地方，我觉得通过学习获得的荣誉是那么真实，那么有用，老师们的期待，同学们的竞争，我必须全力以赴，所以我退缩了，所以我不愿意登台。我怕破坏这来之不易的美好的初中时光和荣誉。爸爸看懂了我这种状态，他心事沉重地“爸爸培养你，不单单是为了给学校输送个好学生，你也不要总用学习来躲避什么，我是想要你成为一个用于表达思想的孩子，而你现在的行为，恰恰忘了这一点。”我被爸爸的话震住了，我无地自容。

我在网上浏览了以往的许多视频，就像大家在刚刚我在上场之前看到的一样，非常滑稽，也让我笑了。虽然我现在的年纪还是性格都决定我不愿意回首过去，可是这次我却破例地看了进去。看完了以后，一种自豪感顿时荡漾了起来，难怪网友封我为“演讲帝”，难怪我的爸爸又这么注重这些，我的确是太有意思了。我和同龄人相比，真的有不一样的地方，我敢说，毫无顾忌；我能说，口若悬河。最后我按捺不住，我第一次在评论栏里为自己写了个评论，这个孩子说的多好啊。

是的，我细想，我现在的学校生活如鱼得水，其实正是与我的经历有关，经历给了我与外界碰撞的机会，而我的经历，又是我爸爸给我造就的，就是我的家庭给我带来的。而这三者就构成了一个三角形，不知道大家有没有发现，我们《超级演说家》的舞台，无论是大屏幕，还是四位导师所坐的桌子，还是这前面的这些符号，都是三角形。这就让我想到了三角形可能都具有稳定性，那么我就是这个稳定的产物，我成长得很稳定。

我是一个有梦想的孩子，登台即梦想之一，登台的意义何在，它让我明白了它赋予我高度的责任和自信，它让我在台上发现了世界的另一面，它让我明白，老老实实地待在一个地方傻傻的学习，并不应该是生活的全部。像我这样的用学习来逃避生活，也是不对的。我们这些零零后，要勇于创造属于自己的新天地，一个人绝对不可以忘本，我要追随我的心声，听从心的召唤，继续走下去。

《女汉子的人生智慧》

说这个世界上呢有三类人，男人、女人和女汉子，说到女汉子呢，通常她都有个特点，就是她在做完事情之后呢，我和我的小伙伴们都惊呆了。但是我有什么脸去说别人呢，因为我就是个女汉子呀。【超演的经典稿子】

在小的时候呢，当我身旁的女生都在看《美少女战士》的时候，你们知道我在看什么吗？天马流星拳，没错《圣斗士星矢》。当我身边的女孩儿她们拍照的时候都对着爸爸妈妈的相机做出五朵金花的样子的时候，你们知道我做的是什么呢？狼牙山五壮士，霸气侧漏有没有。后来再长大一点，就从一个假小子变成了人们传说当中的女汉子，大河向东流，天上的星星参北斗，嘿嘿嘿呦嘿嘿„„

没错，就是这种唱女汉子的霸气，后来就贯穿在了女汉子的生命轨迹里。比如说萌妹子爱撒娇，看到了喜欢的东西，会说哇，这个东西真的好漂亮呦，李咏哥哥。话还没有说完，李咏的心就融化了，一撩长发，拿出了信用卡，喜欢吗？喜欢。买下。可是女汉子要是自己逛商场，哎呀，哎呀，又错过了打折季，要不是老娘腿短腰粗，这个鞋全买了。老板，那个特价的不要，这个包下，啊，这个月的信用卡又刷爆了。遇到了困难，萌妹子会打电话，欧巴，人家的网线又掉了，思密达。要不要来帮帮我呢。女汉子的声音传来了，哈哈，老娘破解了隔壁的wifi密码。在KTV里面，萌妹子喜欢的是小清新，学长，人家想要唱一首小情歌啦，要不要和我一起唱啊。然后学长就结束了单身。而女汉子却非常忧伤地点下了一首歌，唱了一句套马的汉子你威武雄壮，在她雄壮的歌声中，汉子们就跑光了。

这就是女汉子，她们生活中的自立自强，经济独立，上得了厅堂，下得了厨房，打得了流氓，斗得了小强，可是她却好像要单身一辈子，而那些发嗲的、装可爱的女孩子却好像特别地受追捧，这是为什么呢？我绞尽脑汁想，我想到了，因为那些看不上女汉子的男孩，他们瞎了。女汉子多好啊，她们特别的直爽，开心就笑，难过就哭，不爽就骂，怒了就吼，简直女汉子肚里能打的啊，有木有。

所以，综上所述，你还不珍惜你身边的女汉子吗，要像李咏哥那样，赶快把哈文姐拿回来。最关键的是，请所有的女汉子们都记住，你们要想我对面的鲁豫姐那样，既要做一个外形上binbinbin，内心上又能jiongjiongjiong的女汉子，错，是萌汉子。好啦，这就是我的演讲，你们喜欢吗？

《我的极品老板》

最近呢，极品两个字特别的火，比如说我的前任是个极品，我的极品爸妈，没准今天还可能有极品导师呢。于是天有缘地有缘，冥冥之中老天总会安排一个让你无比抓狂的极品老板。你有我有大家都有，大家有才是真的有。

其实，每天每个月总是那么三十几天不愿意上班，我也希望能够成为像李咏老师那样的北漂楷模。于是我告诉自己，要买房，要买车，于是我经历了一段奇幻的工作之旅，遇到了一个又一个极品的老板。

首先就是这个小气吧啦型的，哎呀，也就是抠啊，你们都不知道有多抠，我从去年12月份开始提加薪，我从冬天等到了春天，从春天等到了冬天，终于在一个浪漫的午后，这个黄鼠狼的周扒皮，对我进行了长达三个小时的谈话，终于给我涨钱啦，给我涨了30块钱，30块钱，他好意思给，我都不好意思要呢。他还跟我说，公司处在困难期，咱们应该同甘苦共患难，后来我一想，行，为了我的房，为了我的车，我忍。然后就是加班，加班是每一个上班族的心中永远的痛，第一天加班到十点，第二天加班到十一点，第三天加班到十二点，终于情人节那天老板说，不用加班了，都回去过节吧，都走吧。这下给我高兴坏了呀，我收拾东西，老板说，别激动，我开个玩笑。老板，药不能停哪。

我们再说说女老板吧，我曾经认为，我有五个不同的女老板，今天是个齐刘海，明天是个大

波浪，然后后来我才知道，她有随着心情换假发的习惯，你说人家乐嘉老师都亮成那样了，都不戴假发，她戴它干什么呀，对不对。最重要的她还是一个甄嬛迷，有一天我拿着刚出来的设计单找她确认签字，突然之间，她就华妃上身了，她说这粉红一色终究是次色，登不得大雅之堂，倘若换上这正红，必定真真是极好的，吩咐下去，立即改正，不然本宫赏他个一丈红。当时小伙伴们，我的脑子里只有五个字，你们猜是什么？臣妾做不到。

很多朋友说谢艺你看不惯老板你可以走，你可以离职，他们给我起了一个外号叫忍者神龟。但是我觉得有句话说得特别好，叫屁股决定脑袋，正是因为我没有坐到老板的位置上，所以才没有老板的脑袋，这段工作的经历，就是苦我心智、劳我筋骨、饿我体肤啊，奠定了我将来在北京扎根的基础。在此真的，我真心地感谢，感谢那些曾经折磨过我的极品老板们

《国要怎么爱》

咱们中国人是一个非常好玩的民族，咱们有的时候跟自己人在一块，那种民族自尊感一下起不来，但是一见到老外，砰，这民族自尊感就起来了。

我一姐们英文倍儿好，在故宫里头给人家当导游，有一天一个老外不太礼貌地问她一个问题，“我觉得你们中国人的科技真是太落后了，我们在好几百年以前就用石头建房子，而你们却住木头屋子，喔，天哪。”我那姐们听完了以后，非常生气，因为此女彪悍，拿自己的大眼珠子瞪了一眼他那蓝眼珠子，转身就跟所有的游客说，“请大家注意听一下，在我们中国是这样一个规矩，活人是从来不住石头房子的，死人才会去住石头房子，鉴于刚才这位的要求，我一会带大家去参观石头房子，就是十三陵。”干的漂亮，当时我就说“天哪，你是个天才呀。”你们是不是也觉得很给力、很解气。

然后呢，然后你们猜怎么着，当天晚上我回到家里，打开电视新闻里播了一条新闻，整个我三观就都毁了，他们说有的中国游客在埃及金字塔上刻上“小爷到此一游”，还有人在卢浮宫的门口洗脚，甚至在外国的街头上乱扔垃圾和小便。同志们，其实外国人认为咱们落后，不是在于木头还是石头盖房子，更重要的是咱们一定要走在世界的每一个角落都记住咱是中国人，不能给咱祖宗跌份，对不对？这其实是一种非常炫的民族风。

第二点，有的时候就说只见到外国人，我们就能有民族自尊心，在自己人面前就不会有缺点吗？我告诉你一样有，我有一帮好朋友，他们是留学生从外国回来的，回国以后得了一种病叫做失语症，经常不会好好说人话，有的时候跟我说“李林，你知道吗？我刚刚回到国家以后，我真的蛮难受的，这种感觉就是蛮、蛮Uncomfortable（不舒服）的，你明白吗？就是不舒服啦，我都找不到合适的国语来说出我要说的话。比如说我们看满场这些东西叫什么，李林你告诉我叫什么？我说叫商标呀，还能叫什么。错，叫Logo（商标），（注意我口形Logo），这样才洋气嘛。还有你们做节目戴的这个东西叫做什么，叫做什么，我都不好意思说，好土，叫话筒哎，人家老外叫麦克风，这样节目才会好看嘛。”我就去，你会说中国话不会呀，你。你吃几年外国饭，你爸爸姓什么了吧，你。

最重要的一点是什么，我不是排斥外族语言和外族文化，大家都有很好的东西，张之洞说过“中学为体，西学为用”。你们看看成龙大哥，他在好莱坞打拼那么多年，他能不会说英文吗，但那只是人家的一个工具。再看看铁林老师，在英国待了好多年，但是据我个人所知，书法家、京剧爱好者、古玩收藏家，又是一位非常知名的中国演员。为什么，因为铁林老师从来不会不好好说话，对不对。

所以我今天想说明的是什么，作为一个国人，只有我们真正地认同了自己民族的文化，不管我们走在世界哪一个角落，我们都会说我们是中国人，因为这就是最炫民族风。

that's why we've had titans of industry who've made it their mission to pay well enough that their employees could afford the products they made -- businessmen like warren buffett， whose support i'm proud to have。 that's why our economy hasn't just been the world's greatest wealth creator -- it's been the world's greatest job generator。 it's been the tide that has lifted the boats of the largest middle class in history。 to rebuild that middle class， i'll give a tax break to 95% of workers and their families。 if you work， pay taxes， and make less than $200，000， you'll get a tax cut。 if you make more than $250，000， you'll still pay taxes at a lower rate than in the 1990s -- and capital gains and dividend taxes one-third lower than they were under president reagan。

it's the answer spoken by young and old， rich and poor， democrat and republican， black， white， latino， asian， native american， gay， straight， disabled and not disabled - americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of red states and blue states: we are， and always will be， the united states of america。 

it's the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical， and fearful， and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day。 

it's been a long time ing， but tonight， because of what we did on this day， in this election， at this defining moment， change has e to america。 

i just received a very gracious call from senator mccain。 he fought long and hard in this campaign， and he's fought even longer and harder for the country he loves。 he has endured sacrifices for america that most of us cannot begin to imagine， and we are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader。 i congratulate him and governor palin for all they have achieved， and i look forward to working with them to renew this nation's promise in the months ahead。 

i want to thank my partner in this journey， a man who campaigned from his heart and spoke for the men and women he grew up with on the streets of scranton and rode with on that train home to delaware， the vice president-elect of the united states， joe biden。

it was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give five dollars and ten dollars and twenty dollars to this cause。 it grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation's apathy; who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep; from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on the doors of perfect strangers; from the millions of americans who volunteered， and organized， and proved that more than two centuries later， a government of the people， by the people and for the people has not perished from this earth。 this is your victory。

i thank president bush for his service to our nation， as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition。 forty-four americans have now taken the presidentialoath。 the words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace。 yet， every so often， the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms。 at these moments， america has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office， but because we the people have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebearers， and true to our founding documents。so it has been。 so it must be with this generation of americans。that we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood。 our nation is at war， against a far-reaching work of violence and hatred。 our economy is badly weakened， a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some， but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age。 homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered。 our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our pla。these are the indicators of crisis， subject to data and statistics。 less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land -- a nagging fear that america''s decline is inevitable， and that the next generation must lower its sights。today i say to you that the challenges we face are real。 they are serious and they are many。 they will not be met easily or in a short span of time。 but know this， america: they will be met。

this is the journey we continue today。 we remain the most prosperous， powerful nation on earth。 our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began。 our minds are no less inventive， our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year。 our capacity remains undiminished。 but our time of standing pat， of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions -- that time has surely passed。 starting today， we must pick ourselves up， dust ourselves off， and begin again the work of remaking america。for everywhere we look， there is work to be done。 the state of the economy calls for action， bold and swift， and we will act -- not only to create new jobs， but to lay a new foundation for growth。 we will build the roads and bridges， the electric grids and digital lines that feed our merce and bind us together。 we will restore science to its rightful place， and wield technology''s wonders to raise health care''s quality and lower its cost。 we will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories。 and we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age。 all this we can do。 and all this we will do。now， there are some who question the scale of our ambitions -- who suggest that our system cannot tolerate too many big plans。 their memories are short。 for they have forgotten what this country has already done; what free men and women can achieve when imagination is joined to mon purpose， and necessity to courage。what the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them -- that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply。 the question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small， but whether it works -- whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage， care they can afford， a retirement that is dignified。 where the answer is yes， we intend to move forward。 where the answer is no， programs will end。 and those of us who manage the public''s dollars will be held to account -- to spend wisely， reform bad habits， and do our business in the light of day -- because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government。nor is the question before us whether the market is a force for good or ill。 its power to generate wealth and expand freedom is unmatched， but this crisis has reminded us that without a watchful eye， the market can spin out of control -- and that a nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous。 the success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our gross domestic product， but on the reach of our prosperity; on our ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart -- not out of charity， but because it is the surest route to our mon good。
