Good morning/afternoon!

First thing first, I gotta say, wow,it's funny thing to be given a chance like that.Trurh be told,I really got a little bit nervous before I stand right here ,so called 'stage fright'.If you look specifically on me .You may find my hands shaking, pretty assembles the guy who suffered from Pakinson's disease, and legs wobbling ,like I caught so-called ball leg. Okay, let's stop going around the bush and get back to my topic today.I really like to talk a funny story I have just heard.

A lady called Lucy emigrated to United States several years ago.Her spoken English is not that fluent .And one day,she is just sitting on the couch with his U.S friends Mandy watching Sit-Com.A noise of bump had the attention of Mandy, which led her to go out of the house trying to figure out what had happened. Can you imagine that Mandy go straight out with merely a sweater. So Lucy shouted at her,"Lucy ,turn your clothes on." What suprised her most, beyond her wildest imagination, is that almost all the male in this country took their head out of the window.Admittedly,Lucy made a mistake here .The word spitted means Mandy is totally naked to the reason that male looked out of the window. The right sentence shall be,"put your clothing on."The story inspires you to take a careful look on the vast difference between eastern and western culture. That's full of it,thank you for your time!

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!

I am glad to be here to share my opinions with all of you. My topic today is about Internet.

With the development of technology, more and more people are fond of using Internet. It is particularly popular among young people. Just like the coin has two sides, internet also has its own advantages and disadvantages.

First of all, the Internet has brought people great convenience in getting information, entertainment and contact with each other. As for our students, it is a useful tool when we meet problems. When we are tired, a piece of light music will help us relax. If we have free time, we can enjoy movies or interesting cartoons. What's more, we can also watch live programs on the internet or see it later if we are not available at that time.

But there is also bad influence. Some of the young teenagers are addicted to computer games, and some even play games all night. Because of lacking in sleep, those students can not focus on in the class . As a result, they may fail in the exam. When they realize it is wrong to spend too much time playing games, it's already too late.

I have remembered such a piece of news . An excellent student flunked (考试不及格) because he could not concentrate on his study for being too indulged in computer games. He spent nearly all the money on games, which was earned by

his father's selling blood. When his father knelt down to beg him to return to school, he was too numb to show any regret.

The most serious harm of computer games come from their contents, which affects teenagers ' mental health. Many games involve violence, such as fighting and killing. When they enjoy the pleasure of success, a violent turn of mind is developed and rooted in them, which may induce future violent behaviour in their life.

So when computers' entertaining function is highly spoken of ,such a problem does deserve our serious concern.

In addition, long time's working before computer also does harm to health. The radiation from the computer can arose many uncomfortable feelings., like a headache, poor eyesight.

At last, people who are fond of making friends on line should also be careful. Many convicts use Internet as a way to cheat. Although it has many disadvantages , Internet has become an indispensable part of people's life in recent years. In my point of view, it's wrong to blame Internet itself, it's all depend on the way we use it. If we use it in a right way, it can be one of the best friends in our life.

That 's all , thank you !

A Brother Like That

A friend of mine named Paul received an automobile from his brother as a Christmas present. On Christmas Eve when Paul came out of his office, a street urchin was walking around the shiny new car, admiring it.

"Is this your car, Mister?" he said.

Paul nodded. "My brother gave it to me for Christmas." The boy was astounded. "You mean your brother gave it to you and it didn't cost you nothing? Boy, I wish . . ." He hesitated.

Of course Paul knew what he was going to wish for. He was going to wish he had a brother like that. But what the lad said jarred Paul all the way down to his heels.

"I wish," the boy went on, "That I could be a brother like that."

Paul looked at the boy in astonishment, then impulsively he added, "Would you like to take a ride in my car?"

"Oh yes, Id love that."

After a short ride, the boy turned with his eyes aglow, said, "Mister, would you mind driving in front of my house?"

Paul smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big automobile. But Paul was wrong again. "Will you stop where those two steps are?" the boy asked.

He ran up the steps. Then in a little while Paul heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He sat him down on the bottom step, then sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to the car.

"There she is, Buddy, just like I told you upstairs. His brother gave it to him

for Christmas and it didn't cost him a cent. And some day Im gonna give you one just like it . . . then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the Christmas windows that Ive been trying to tell you about." Paul got out and lifted the lad to the front seat of his car. The shining-eyed older brother climbed in beside him and the three of them began a memorable holiday ride. That Christmas Eve, Paul learned

what Jesus meant when he said: "It is more blessed to give . . .

Have you ever watched the famous cartoon"Happy sheep and gray wolf",which captures the hearts of millions of kids and even teenagers.

I'm sure you can't forget the vivid character---Red Wolf, which is a snippy, violent and hot-tempered wife with her symbolic action:throw a pan to her husband and shout out " go and catch the sheep! or never come back".In fact, this is a truly reflection that female are gradually dominating the society.Girls are the bosses.

According to a report by CNN in 2015,women in the US earned 59 percent of all college degrees, surpassing men by almost 3 to 2.while in 1970,41 years ago,men earned that percentage of all college degrees.Similarly, in China,it's estimated that female college students surpassed male students in numbers on campus for the first time in history in 2015,which accounts for 51%.Although we,the students in WHUT,can't feel it,because the majority here are

males. But think about the fact that, the female ratio of freshmen in Huazhong Normal University this year is 70%.So next time, when you're free, why not go to Huazhong Normal University, just walk around the campus, and you will enjoy a different scenery.

Back to our topic, Gu haibing, professor in the School of Econmics at Renmin University of China, attributes this to the education system. He says girls gain the edge with their better discipline and memory-based studying method "However , a gender imbalance on campus caused by female students outperforming their male counterparts reflects a global trend.

The 2015 Olympics have been hailed as the "Year of the women",according to Time magazine, because 58 of the US team 103 medals were won by women and for the first time Muslim women from Saudi-Arabia,Qatar and Brunei ere allowed to compete in the event.

Furthermore,as we have known, Madame Curie is one of the greatest scientists around the world, and she is a woman;"Iron lady "Margaret thatcher is the one of the most prominent politician, and she is a woman; Oprah Winfrey is the household hostess of talk show, and she is a woman. And examples like this can be taken endlessly as you want.

So here ,the men compatriot, watch out,we are fallen behind!

Disputes in the South China Sea were of international concern, Robert Gates, US defence secretary, said yesterday, highlighting the rising tensions between Washington and Beijing over security in Asia.

Speaking in Hanoi, Mr Gates said Washington had a strong interest in maritime security in Asia, rejecting Beijing’s view that the territorial rows that have flared up in the past two years should be resolved with its neighbours bilaterally.

―We need multilateral institutions in order to confront the most important security challenges in the region,‖ he said in a speech at Vietnam National University.

But despite their differences, Mr Gates accepted an invitation from Liang Guanglie, the Chinese defence minister, to visit Beijing early next year, resuming a high-level military dialogue suspended by Beijing since the start of the year over US arms sales to Taiwan.

Mr Gates and Mr Liang met ahead of a key regional security summit in the Vietnamese capital today.

Regional tensions have been rising over a more aggressive diplomatic posture adopted by Beijing over its claims to the disputed Paracel and Spratly Islands – all or parts of which are also claimed by Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam. China also recently clashed with Japan over disputed island territories.

Hillary Clinton, US secretary of state, angered Beijing in July by insisting that the dispute over the South China Sea was of strategic importance to Washington and offering to act as a mediator. Mr Gates and his Chinese counterpart did not discuss the matter during their meeting, according to Guan Youfei, a Chinese rear admiral and deputy director of the defence ministry’s foreign affairs office.

He said the meeting was ―very short but also very candid and constructive‖ and ―an important consensus was reached‖ on the need to ―strengthen dialogue and communication and promote understanding and trust‖.

Adm Guan said that the ―strange, on again, off again cycle‖ in US-China military relations was largely the result of US arms sales to Taiwan.

He added that ―the situation in the South China Sea is stable‖ and that it ought not to be discussed at the Hanoi summit. Defence ministers and officials from the 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations will meet their counterparts from Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Russia and the US in Hanoi today – the first regional security meeting to involve such a broad range of high-level participants.

In a press conference after their meeting, Mr Gates and Phung Quang Thanh, Vietnam’s defence minister, stressed the need to resolve any disputes through peaceful means and according to international law美国国防部长罗伯特?

. More than half the world’s richest self-made women are Chinese, thanks partly to the availability of cheap childcare, according to the Hurun Report, which compiles information on the wealthiest Chinese.

The world’s three richest women are Chinese – as are 11 of the top 20 – according to the Hurun

List of Self-Made Women Billionaires, published today.

Zhang Yin, 53, the Chinese head of a recycled paper company, Nine Dragons Paper, ranks as the wealthiest self-made woman on earth with an estimated personal fortune of $5.6bn. Wu Yajun, 46, of Longfor Property, comes in second with $4.1bn and Chen Lihua, 69, of Fuhua International, a Hong Kong conglomerate, ranks third with $4bn.

The richest non-Chinese is Spaniard Rosalia Mera of Zara, the fashion house, with $3.5bn, and two others who made their fortunes in fashion: Doris Fisher for Gap is eighth and Giuliana Benetton of Benetton is 11th.

Oprah Winfrey, the US television show host, ranks ninth with $2.3bn.

Nandani Lynton, of the China Europe International Business School in Shanghai, identified political and social factors for making a scrap paper lady from China richer than the doyennes of Zara, Gap, Benetton and Ebay.

―Mao made an incredible difference when he said women hold up half the sky, since then it has been assumed that all women in China will work,‖ Ms Lynton said.

Chinese women are also among the most ambitious on earth, according to a study from the Centre for Work-Life Policy in New York, which found 76 per cent of women in China aspired to top jobs, compared with 52 per cent in the US.

Working mothers in China and other Bric countries ―are able to aim high, in part because they have more shoulders to lean on than their American and European peers when it comes to childcare‖, the centre noted. With an average work week of 71 hours for Chinese women, cheap childcare is essential, and in China is often provided by grandparents – four for every only child.

Nandani Lynton, of the China Europe International Business School, noted that it was not just the availability of cheap or free childcare but also the absence of any stigma attached to using it that helped Chinese women dominate the global rich lists.

(Centre for Work Life Policy)的一项研究显示,中国女性也是全球最有野心的女性。

Here is an unexpected save the date: Please welcome a delegation representing the Chinese military to Japan as part of a cultural exchange program to promote friendship in the area of national security between the two nations.

What was planned as an innocuous visit by about 20 servicemen in the People's Liberation Army, set to arrive in Tokyo on October 20, to commemorate the 10 anniversary of the military exchange program between the two countries now seems oddly out of place in light of the ongoing diplomatic rift between the pair. While other friendship-building trips have been axed in recent weeks, including Beijing's abrupt decision to cancel a trip of about 1,000 Japanese university students to take in the Shanghai Expo, preparations are still roaring ahead for this program. So far.

'We are not worried. This is the tenth time we've done this project and have done it when there have been bad winds in the past, but we were able to overcome them each time,' said Ippe Ko, one of the program organizers at the Sasakawa Japan-China Friendship Fund, the Tokyo-based

organization sponsoring the trip. 'We recognize that it doesn't come at the best time,' she added, acknowledging the overseas visitors arrive amid an unusually low point in diplomatic relations. She said that they have not heard any concerns expressed from their counterparts in China and both sides are proceeding as planned.

A group from the Japanese Self-Defense Forces traveled to celebrate the same event in China in mid-June. Slightly more than 100 Japanese SDF have visited China and 187 PLA members have come to Japan in the program's 10-year history.

The group's activities will include observing the SDF's land, sea and air activities, discussions over defense-related matters that includes a lecture on Japan's defense policy, but detailed plans are largely still undetermined, according to Ms. Ko.

Another strange twist in the mix is that the Sasakawa Japan-China Friendship Fund is under the controlling umbrella of the Nippon Foundation. The giant philanthropic organization founded by former parliamentarian and businessman Ryoichi Sasakawa funds everything from agricultural education in Africa, elderly assistance programs in Japan, to more controversial projects on the home front dyed with right-wing interests. The charity came under the microscope in 2005 when it became embroiled in another Japan-China territorial squabble. Nippon Foundation tried to find ways to support Japan's claim to the disputed Okinotori islet, which sits about 1,700 km south of Tokyo in the Philippine Sea, considered a sweet spot from a military perspective. Japan has argued it is an island, while China believes it is a coral reef, a technical difference in terms that would determine which country would assume control of the remote area and the greater sea bed around it.
