Directions: you are required to write a 150 word essay on the topic Shopping on the Internet on ANSWER SHEET.

范文一:

Without going out of their home, they may look for whatever items they want and pay online only by clicking the mouse. A couple of days later, the goods they buy online will be delivered at their front door.

doing shopping online is time- and energy-saving. People can buy anything at anytime they like

without a computer hooked onto the Internet. They may say good-bye to the exhausting journey of searching. they cannot touch, smell, or taste what they want. They don’t feel certain about their choice. Besides, they doubt whether the companies will deliver the right items at right time to a right place. be very careful when we decide which item to buy and with company is trustworthy. guard against the hackers who intend to steal our account passwords

With the development of technology, online shopping has become popular in people’s daily life. As many of us might have witnessed, more people are buying products through the Internet. And to facilitate online purchase, stores provide pictures of their products together with other illustrations on the websites. Besides, online products range from small items such as clothes and books to large ones like computers.

Undoubtedly, online shopping has brought us many conveniences. Yet its potential dangers to the consumer could not be ignored. One possible risk is that consumers might not get the exact product they want because the information provided might not be enough or reliable. For a simple example, a consumer who wants to buy a pair of shoes might end up getting a pair with desired style but unfit sizes. After all, people have to try themselves when buying

clothes or shoes. Moreover, if consumers do not pay attention to the credibility of online stores, they might get cheated.

Therefore, consumers should firstly be aware of the credibility of an online store. Secondly, people should not jump on the bandwagon because not all online shopping brings about convenience. Instead, they have to make their own judgment as to the kind of products that could be bought online. Thus, they could avoid possible trouble caused by inadequate or inaccurate information provided by an online store.

It was really not that easy to get on a bus as often as we do today. I was so worried that the bus driver would have missed us. I waved my hands so high with all my strength. I looked hopefully at him. He didn’t move at all. He was still standing. It seemed that the late and infrequent coming of the bus wasn’t any trouble to him at all.

He took my hand. We managed to find seats on the upper deck. I was so excited. Only sitting besides the windows made me happy. Looking at the rewinding buildings, streets and people through windows from a higher ground were so much fun. Then, he was sitting peacefully by me and whispered to me where the bus finally would stop, I was curious about what would be the next stop of our destination as much as what really means something to him.

That is me. I know now. I am all he cares. He wants me to happy, as he always does. That’s the strong bond between father and son.

They want to have a d____about shoppingonline篇八:Online Shopping

Online Shopping (Essay 1, 折中篇)

(范文1:综合/平衡型写法, 兼论网上购物的优点与缺点并提出建议)

With the Internet becoming increasingly powerful, online shopping has emerged as a new way of shopping which poses strong challenges to the conventional way of shopping. With all the conveniences created by this new pattern of shopping, an increasing number of netizens across all age groups resort to online shopping, which has quickly grown into a vogue. Taobao.com is just one of such leading online-shopping websites in China intensifying this fashion.

The greatest convenience of online shopping is that it saves time. We can complete a transaction without having to visit any actual shops or stores. Second, online shops offer a rich variety of commodities for potential buyers to choose from. However, like a double-edged sword, online shopping also creates problems. Although buyers can see the pictures of the commodities they intend to purchase, in quite many cases, the pictures or the verbal descriptions of those goods do not match their actual qualities, thus customers’ interests cannot be guaranteed. In addition, without a well-developed logistics network, it would sometimes take many days for purchased goods to arrive, thus causing great delay and rendering so-called conveniences into troubles. Finally, even though many sellers claim their commodities to be genuine brands, clients tend to lack professional knowledge and skills to discriminate the genuine from the fake ones, and they will ultimately incur considerable financial losses.

In view of many inherent disadvantages of online shopping, customers should duly exercise their precaution when making their purchase decisions. When they have doubts about any aspects of a commodity, they should consult the shop owners fully before making a decision. Finally, they should also make extensive comparisons of the same category of commodities offered by different online shops. In this way, customers can really turn online shopping into something that can positively enrich their modern life.

Online Shopping (Essay 2, 批判篇)

(范文2:一边倒写法, 对网上购物的优点一掠而过,集中论述其缺点并提出建议)

Online shopping is definitely a prevailing vogue of our times, especially among the fashion-conscious young people, among whom many are college students. It is often the case that students expect the arrival of their packages during the breaks of their classes, whose contents vary from books, fashion dresses and cosmetics. Much of their daily conversation at dormitories focuses on online shopping and their daily life has become inextricably connected with this vogue.

Admittedly, online shopping offers a wide range of conveniences, as compared with conventional shopping—cheaper prices, greater efficiency, and richer varieties, etc. However, its conveniences can become its traps. For innocent students, the sheer convenience of online shopping can allure them into what is called “impulse buy”—buying things which are not geared to one’s genuine

needs. This will lead to huge wastes of money for students in their already limited budgets. Moreover, academic studies should be students’ top priority and, if students allow their online shopping to grow into a habit, their time and energy would be significantly diverted, and their failure to concentrate on their studies would produce serious consequences. Finally, when online shopping becomes a vogue among college students, it is easy to generate conspicuous consumption, creating gaps among students who come from different social and economic backgrounds. To a large extent, those gaps would highlight the social inequalities in the real world and it is not healthy for college students, who are supposed to contribute to social equalities, to live in a world of inequalities.

Online shopping inevitably carries with it commercialism, consumerism, and materialism. College students should resort to online shopping only when their purchase needs are appropriate. In no way should they allow online shopping to dominate their college life. Otherwise, it would not only affect their studies but also deform their character.

Online Shopping (Essay 3, 完全赞同篇)

(范文3:一边倒写法, 对网上购物的缺点一掠而过,集中论述其优点并提出建议)

The revolutionary nature of the Internet seems to render it omnipotent in transforming all aspects of the life of modern people. While many argue that students should concentrate on their academic studies and avoid online shopping as much as possible as it diverts much of their time and energy, I would contend that online shopping is suitable for college students in many important ways.

Online shopping is a product of modern civilization, a mode of modern existence whose impact on people, including college students, is irresistible. As part of modern society, college students should become accustomed to this pattern of modern existence and make necessary preparations for their future life. Like all the other ordinary consumers, college students have genuine needs for necessities in their life and studies and online shopping, with its cheaper prices, greater efficiency, and richer varieties, is precisely geared to the needs of students with limited budgets and limited spare time. Online shopping can develop innocent students into mature consumers because they can make extensive comparisons among a wealth of commodities ready for them to choose from. Finally, online shopping itself is a form of business which many college students can engage in. For college graduates who face unprecedented employment pressure on the job market, to launch their own online businesses would provide an alternate route to employment and to career success.

College students account for an important proportion of consumers in China. By making full use of online shopping, students can effectively answer to the government’s call to stimulate domestic consumption and contribute to domestic economic growth. Some students can become successful entrepreneurs of online businesses, with Ma Yun and his taobao.com as a perfect example. In this way, online shopping can become conducive both to students themselves and to the society as a whole.

In order to learn a foreign language well, it is necessary to overcome the fear of making mistakes. If the primary goal of language use is communication, the mistakes are secondary considerations that may be dealt with gradually as awareness of those mistakes increases. On the other hand, students should not ignore their mistakes. The language learner may observe how native speakers express themselves, and how native expressions differ from the way the learner might say them. When I was growing up, I was embarrassed to be seen with my father. He was severely crippled and very short, and when we walked together, his hand on my arm for balance, people would stare. I would inwardly struggle at the unwanted attention. If he ever noticed or was bothered, he never let on. It was difficult to coordinate our steps---his halting, mine impatient---and because of that, we didn’t say much as we went along. But as we started out, he always said, “You set the pace, I will try to adjust to you.”
