Should Food Be Banned on the Subway?

Currently, some cities are considering a food ban on subways, which has sparked heated discussion. Some people say food should be banned because of the trash and rats they attract. And, garbage from discarded food can cause track fires. Beyond sanitary and mechanical concerns, food can also cause fights, as was discovered last week by one passenger who criticized a woman eating steamed stuffed bun on the subway. However, some others are opposed to the idea. They argue that people like eating in the train in the morning because they don't have enough time to eat at their houses or restaurants. Sometimes that may be the only time or meal a transit rider may be able to eat especially when traveling long distances. Besides, there are people, for example diabetics, who do require food at various times to maintain blood-sugar levels.

Personally, I'm against the ban because of the huge inconvenience it would cause to commuters, and the expense involved in enforcing it. Still, I believe we should have a little common courtesy. I think we all have responsibility to try to treat our subway system and fellow riders with respect, and that extends to food as well.

Fast Food

Fast food is becoming more popular in China, especially among children and teenagers. Today、it’s certainly difficult to think of any other single thing that mirrors the fast pace of modern society as powerfully as fast food.

There are several reasons for its popularity. First, it is very convenient and saves a lot of time. The trends of modern society seem to all point to one ultimate goal — saving time, and fast food well serves this purpose. Second, its popularity is also attributed to the clean and comfortable environment of fast food restaurants, the excellent service, and the guaranteed quality of food.

However From the nutritional point of view. It usually does not compose a balanced diet and doctors suggest that people, especially children, eat fast food as little as possible.

Therefore, fast food is only a good choice when you are in a hurry and turn to it once in a while. (157 words)

Personally, I don’t believe that giving children pocket money is a very good idea. In my opinion, doing so only encourages children to think that things in life are free. As humans, we only value those things that cost us something to obtain. When I was a child, my parents never gave us any pocket money(or “allowance” as we call it in America). They made us work to earn any money we had. They wanted us to know that money is valuable, and that hard work is even more valuable. They wanted us to learn to make wise choices with our money, and they knew we would be more careful with our money if we earned it ourselves. Finally, they wanted us to understand that work and money are related: you cannot have one without the other. I think there are two things parents need to do to help their children understand the value of money. First, they should make their children earn their spending money, which will make the children consider the money precious. Second, they should not always stop their children from doing foolish things with their money. Making some mistakes will teach the children to be wise.

1. 每天全世界都有成千上万的人死于交通事故;

2. 分析产生交通事故的原因;

Only Stricter Traffic Laws Can Prevent Accidents

Though the possibility of living a long and happy life is greater than ever before, every day thousands of people all over the world are killed or horribly mutilated on the roads just because of traffic accidents.

This situation is mainly due to the following two reasons. In the first place, the drivers are becoming less aware of social morality. When they are sitting behind a steering wheel, they totally forget the traffic laws which should be complied with. In the second place, the surprising thing is that society smiles so benignly on the peace breakers and seems to condone their behavior. As the transportation develops, cities become almost uninhabitable because of heavy traffic and the countryside is destroyed by the complicated road networks.

Therefore,jitjisjhighjtimejthatjajworldjcodejwere_created_tojreduce this_jen^jlessjwa^e_of\human _life and to_have some beneficial_ effect on the accident rate. (153 words)

should food be banned on the subway篇四:Should Food Be Banned on the Subway

Should Food Be Banned on the Subway In contemporary society, the rise in phenomenon of

eating on the subway has been in the limelight. There has been an argument that whether a food ban is necessary or not.

Those who favor the food ban argue that subway is a public place, thus, it is annoying to eat here which attract rants. In contrast, individuals who object to it, on the other hand, maintain that the reverse is true. There are, still, vital factors stand out among them. Saving time will definitely prove to be rewarding in the long run. As busy city life nowadays, officers and students are too busy to eat. As a result, having food on the subway, which is not only saves time, but also facilitates to provide them with physical energy, becoming a popular way. However, every sword has two blades, eating on the subway is not an exception. Some smelly food may bother others, so is the rubbish. In addition, the huge inconvenience it would cause commuters. Fragment, the expense involved in enforcing it.

There is probably some truth to both arguments. Above all, weighing up the pros and cons of food ban, I am inclined

to the latter. From my standpoint, the weakness of eating on the subway remains in morality, it does not actually hurt others benefit. To conclude, we need to give more tolerance to this behavior. After all, tolerance is the most essential qualification that anyone who wants to achieve

maltreatment

Living alone or Living with Roommates

In contemporary society the rise in phenomenon of living alone, especially in the university has been in the limelight. There has been a controversy that whether living alone is necessary or not.

Those who advocate living separately deem that living alone can make folks independent, which is the symbol of amateur. First and foremost, living alone improves our comprehensive quality. Moreover, it satisfies the need of privacy. In addition, it provides us with confidence after solving problems on our own. In contrast, individuals who are opposed to it, on the other hand, maintain that the

reverse is true. In addition, they assert that human beings are social animals, who achieve success because of the social relationship. Thus, living alone may cause a severe result, namely, the hurt-breaking loneliness, the loss of friend, most importantly, the decrease of the ability dealing with complex social relationship which prevents the advancement of self-improvement.

There is probably some truth to both arguments. Above all, weighing up the pros and cons of food ban, I am inclined to the latter. To conclude, I reckon that what the purpose of going to the university in China is to set up your own relationship, so as to adjust yourself to the society in

advance, making what we learn into practice. On the other hand, if there is no chance to be a member of the society, what is the meaning of university?

Reserving a Seat

As the society develops dramatically, a worrying problem has sprung up that college student reserving seats for their classmates.

The reasons to this phenomenon can be briefly summed

up as follows. First and foremost, one of the most contributing causes is that it is of convenience. That is, only one roommate can take up all seats that they need. In addition, the fundamental reason stems from the fact that it saves time. Thus, other roommates can get up later, not worried about finding the seat. There are, still, influential factors stand out among them. It is fair for students in a dormitory. What I mean is that everyone reserves in turn, they take give off and pay back, and they think it worthy. Fragment, reserving a seat give rise to inconvenience and unfairness for others. Were the situation to continue as it is, we would pay a higher price. Namely, the quarrels even the fight for reserving a seat which has a harming effect on the harmony.

Rules and regulations are supposed to be made to improve this situation. What′ s more, we, each individual ought to cultivate the awareness of being comprehensive. Moreover, we are supposed to take a proper attitude towards it. With our joint efforts, we can stop this bad phenomenon

should food be banned on the subway篇五:Food Should Be Banned on the Subway

Food Should Be Banned on the Subway When I go home on the Friday by subway, I usually see some people eat food in the underground. The smell of the food spreads all over the cabin. And these passengers still eat ignoring other’s dissatisfied sight. Sometimes, I can even see some food residue, such as water、milk and bread crumbs, dropping on the floor.

This behavior should be banned. Because eating food on the subway is impolite and unclean. The residue of food will attract rat, flies and mosquitoes. It’s dangerous to the subway because rat will chew cable. And maybe passengers will slip if they don’t notice the residue on the floor. It’s dangerous to the old or children.

We should eat food before we take the subway or after. When we on the subway, we should put the food in our bags. If we see someone eat in the subway, we should remind them not to do it. And we should appeal it on the internet which can make more people stop eating food on the subway.

But some cities are considering to ban food on the subways, which has sparked heated discussion. Some people are approval of the idea for the reason that eating on the subway will make railway carriages smelly, especially in summer, the mixture of the smell of sweat and the food made people feel disgusted. What's more, garbage from discarded food made the railway carriages dirty, attracting rats and cockroaches. However, some people disagree with the policy, arguing that they do not have enough time to eat at home or at the restaurants, especially for someone who has to take a long distance train to get to the office. Also, allowance to eat on the subways can help people who with hypoglycemia to keep his blood sugar level. From my perspective, I am in favour of the idea that food should be banned on the subways. On the one hand, subway runs at a high speed, if it encounters acceleration or braking, the car will be bumpy, the possibility of choking increased, and will also influent digestion. On the other hand, on the subway or bus, bacteria spread inevitably because of the large number of people. Above all, it is not so good to eat on the subway.

Nowadays, going abroad for studies is enjoying a striking popularity among adolescents. Importance should be attached to studying abroad.

There are a great many advantages of studying overseas. First and foremost, living and studying abroad offers students a different perspective of the world. On a university campus, international students are likely to encounter their counterparts from various countries and areas and are exposed to diverse ideas and values. What is more, overseas experience is the best opportunity for the real-life use of foreign languages. There is no better opportunity to improve second-language skills than living in the country in which it is spoken.

Generally peaking, it is my view that although going abroad is expensive and perhaps painful, the payoff is worthwhile. In the first place, in addition to knowledge, overseas students can gain precious experiences that those who stay at home will never have. Furthermore, overseas experience, frustrating and painful as it may be, is conducive to the growth of adolescents.

Job hunting has always been a headache for college students. Though many graduates are employed right after graduation, some are not. Most serious of all, some still have no idea where to go working even a long time after graduation.

The reasons for this phenomenon are various. On the one hand, a few years ago colleges and universities enrolled so many students in popular majors, such as economy, finance and so on that the number of graduates was greater than the need in the market. On the other hand, most graduates would rather stay in large cities without suitable job to do than go to the country.

I reckon this problem can be solved if both colleges and students take measures. First, they should research the market and develop special skills to suit its need. Second, students’attitude towards

employment should be changed. They should go to small cities and country. There they can also give full play to their professional knowledge. In a word, if we pay much attention, the situation can be improved.

There is a heated debate over the role of lectures and discussions in the classroom. Some people believe that lectures can help students learn more quickly. In contrast, others hold that discussions can stimulate students to learn by themselves. Those who hold the first opinion suggest that students attend more lectures. In their view, by giving lectures teachers help students master the knowledge they've accumulated over years of study and research. However, others think that in a discussion, the teacher usually guides the students instead of dominating them. They argue that to get involved in a discussion, students have to develop their ability to analyze problems independently.

In my opinion, I stand on the side of neither idea. First of all, either method has its disadvantages. Furthermore, each student has his or her preference. Thirdly, lectures ate preferable to discussions in the teaching of science subjects, and on the contrary, discussions are preferable to lectures in studying the humanities. Therefore, we should adopt different teaching methods according to different subjects.

Equality of Education Opportunity

In recent years the problems which are caused by the inequality of education opportunity have attracted the public's attention. For instance, the backward teaching facilities and dilapidated school buildings in rural areas are in sharp contrast to those advanced facilities and well-equipped classrooms in urban areas, students from poor families cannot go to universities because of the high tuition.

There are several factors which contribute to these problems. First, the distribution of resources is unbalanced between rural and urban schools. Second, educational loans for poor students are far from enough. Third, the inequality in some schools' admission policies also turns many students away. The education inequality can result in many bad impacts. On one hand, it can affect people’s future employment. On the other hand,it is the root of many social problems.

To change this situation, I think, we should take the following measures. Firstly, the government's spending on education should be increased and the allocation of public resources gives priority to rural and weak urban schools. Secondly, the

implementation of the government financial aid system for students should be accelerated. Thirdly, the government should speed up education reforms to ensure everyone has equal access to schools.

1. Generation Gap

Though many aspects of our social life have been improved, the generation gap between the youths and the elders remain and even grows wider.

In my opinion, because of the influence of individualism from western civilization, the youths do not blindly follow what the elders say, that causes the gap. The young are creative and revolutionary, always go along with the trend and like changing. While the old, accustomed to everything of the past, are hostile to change. Also with more and more different beliefs and philosophical ideas, it is natural the young hold different opinions from the old.

I think in order to narrow the gap, both parts should try to understand and respect each other, instead of trying to change others as they wish. Diversity doesn't mean conflict so long as they hold

the right attitude towards the problems.

2. Giving Children Cell Phones

More and more children are showing up at school each September with cell phones. Many parents buy cell phones to their children because it is a nice safety measure. It gives those working parents a little sense of control and security to know when their children are off campus and on their way home.

But having a cell phone might be a problem. Parents may find themselves facing a frightening bill at the end of the month. The reason: chatting on the phone and sending text messages can soon become the favorite pastime of preteens and teenagers. Worse still, cell phones in schools can lead to classroom distractions, text-message cheating and inappropriate photographs.

Knowing their children can always be reached is reassuring for parents. But before buying their child a cell phone, I think parents should decide if the child is really capable of managing his or her own phone. Besides, parental control must be exercised in the use of the phone. For example, they should set limits on how long the child is allowed to stay on the phone.

3. We Shouldn't Totally Turn to the Internet

Nowadays, Internet has become an indispensable part in our life, and we use it for various purposes, such as searching useful information and chatting online. However, now more and more people turn to the Internet for help whenever they have trouble in finding solutions to their problems, and this phenomenon has aroused the public's attention.

Relying on the Internet to solve all our difficulties can have bad impacts on us. On one hand, since we can always settle the troubles by searching solutions online, we can become very lazy and don't bother to think up answers by ourselves, which can hinder the development of creative thinking. On the other hand, the answers online may be inaccurate or wrong. If we use them without thinking the credibility of them, we may make serious mistakes someday.

As far as I'm concerned, we shouldn't completely depend on the Internet to settle problems. When we come across some difficulties, we’d better try our best to find possible solutions. If we make great efforts and still can't come up with an answer, then we can surf online to search solutions. But

we should question the correctness of these answers before we adopt them.

4. How to Deal with Sub-health

With the modernization of the world, people’s standard of living has improved a lot. Then there appears a state of sub-health among people which poses a new threat to them.

There are some typical symptoms for people who are in a state of sub-health. First of all, those who suffer from it often have a headache or backache. Secondly, they feel like having a rest frequently. What upsets us most is that, the situation spreading countrywide. As a result, more and more workers in big cities are harassed by it, with a percentage of 75 in Beijing, 72 in Shanghai and 70 in Guangzhou respectively.

Then how can we solve this problem effectively? Experts suggest that the best way to keep ourselves healthy is to do exercises. It is also very important that people should form a good living

habit, for example, getting up early and going to sleep early. Only doing so can we keep us healthy.

5. Should Food Be Banned on the Subway?

6. Reserving a Seat

We often see there is a table cloth, a book or something else on the desk in the classroom or library, indicating the seat is taken. This kind of phenomenon is very usual in almost all colleges and universities. Strangely enough, most of students seem to take this for granted, and few will protest it.

Though most of students’ taking seats in advance is for better study, this kind of phenomenon has great negative effects. On the one hand, it is a selfish behavior, which damages other students’ interests. Sometimes even if many students come to the classroom very early, they can not find a seat. On the other hand, reserving a seat violates the rule of fairness. No matter how late you come to class, the seat is still reserved for you even though many others are eager for that seat.

Considering the above-mentioned, I think, it is high time that we college students took a good look of our behavior. Indeed, only if all of us can improve our consciousness, it is not a difficult task for us to get rid of this kind of phenomenon “reserving a seat”.

7 The Impact of the Internet on the Way People Communicate

Internet does exert such a profound effect on our life that it revolutionizes the way of people’s living and thinking. As is subtly revealed in the portrayal, there are two parents sitting in the front of computer, who are chatting with their child on the internet. What a meaningful picture!

From my perspective, the electronic contact cannot replace face to face communication owing to the following factors. To begin with, over-reliance on electronic contact will damage the interpersonal relationship, for the cold machine never replaces a warm-hearted greeting face to face. For example, the aged parents would like their only son who works far away home to come back home more often rather than to talk with him on the internet occasionally. What’s more, face to face communication is preferable because it is beneficial to build a harmonious society, for it attaches more importance on human affection and feelings instead of convenience and speed.

Hence, it is necessary for us to use Internet in a reasonable way. After all, Internet is invented to connect you and me, and to bring conveniences to our life rather than set a barrier to keep people beyond reach. If we want to keep our interpersonal relationship more effectively, we should spend more time with them face to face in real life. Only in this way can we not only make full use of the communication tool on the net but also make our relationship tighter.

On Disasters

An old saying goes: Life is full of roses and thorns. As we all know, one’s life is full of unexpected events, some of which are wonderful and some of which are disastrous. Those heavy blows, such as, floods, snowstorms, and earthquakes, threaten to weigh one down.

However, it’s even worse if one can’t drag himself out of the grief in that mental break-down is more serious than the disaster itself. Instead of indulging oneself in sadness, one should take positive attitude towards life and contribute to the reconstruction of his or her life and hometown.

As for me, if I am lucky enough to survive in a disaster, I will try my best to help those who are suffering by donation blood or money. If I am a victim, I will endeavor to recover from the sadness as soon as possible and be certain to be strong and supportive to the recovery work.

Helping others has always been a virtue in traditional Chinese culture. But what’s strange nowadays is that people dare not show their helping hands to those in need. I would like to elaborate my views on this issue.

Firstly, I think people’s moral sense has degraded. When egoism gains the upper hand, many people find it growingly hard to help others. Secondly, there is no denying that some tragic events turn out to be traps by people with evil intentions. So common people are becoming more risk-conscious and are more wary of traps and deceits.

In general, I contend the idea that we should be warm-hearted and offer help as well as look out for potential hazards so as not to be deceived.

There are several factors which contribute lo these problems. First, the distribution of resources is unbalanced between rural and urban schools. We Should Balance Our Love

Nowadays it is common to see that many parents focus their attention on their children, but leave their own parents without proper care. The most typical example is the phenomenon of empty nest seniors. This problem has aroused the public concern and has become the hot topic of many discussions.

Paying little attention to older parents can have serious consequences. First, the elderly often

feel lonely and depressed if there is no child with whom they can talk, and this can have a bad effect on their mental health. Second, the aged parents with no children by their sides can have a lot of trouble in their daily life due to disease or old age.

In my opinion, we should take the following measures. Children should be encouraged to live with or near their old parents, which is very helpful for them to know their parents, concern and attend their daily life. And it is also necessary for them to create chances to communicate with their aged parents. Besides, our govemmeiit should strive to establish the service system for the elderly and expand its social insurance coverage among them.

诚信 when it comes to honesty, quite a lot of people believe it is essential to a person’s character and success.

they base their idea on the following reasons: on one hand, successful business owes much to mutual trust; on another hand, great people in history such as abrahamlincoln and genetewashington set us good examples of being honest, they are great because they are honest.

but some people think differently. they believe honesty is becoming out of date. their reasons run as following: to begin with, cheating on exams is becoming more and more popular; in addition, some singers and movie stars cheat on taxes; last but not the least, if you are not careful enough, you’ll buy some defective goods and fake products.

it is high time we emphasized and encouraged honesty. we can take effective measures to restore it. for example, kids should be taught to tell truth, strict rules and regulations should be carried out to stop cheatings on exams and taxes, etc.

when it comes to competition and cooperation, some people always emphasize competition but neglect cooperation.

their reasons run as following: to begin with, they believe only competition can help them defeat their counterparts; in addition, they think competition is the only way to lead to success.

but some others hold different opinion. they think cooperation is as important as competition. they base their opinion on the following reasons: on one hand, cooperation can build trust between each other and help to bring long-term relationship; on another hand, cooperation can turn a small and weak business into a big and strong one.

from what has been discussed above, we may safely draw a conclusion that both competition and cooperation are essential to success and thus should be emphasized at the same time.

(Do Mobiles Distract Study)

wherever you are, you can see many people equipped with mobile phones. it seems that the world becomes smaller nowadays. you could be found wherever you are so long as you take the mobile phone with you. and mobile phones are also becoming a new scene on campus.

students think it is extremely convenient for them to communicate with the outside world by using mobile phones, especially when they are hunting for jobs, so they call it an essential investment. education experts analyze the entry of mobile phones into campus as an indication of social progress. and mobile phones have been considered advanced for its attractive functions. the youth of today send messages, surf on the net, listen to music and even take photos by using their mobile phones. to some extent, it reflects that college students are more and more involved in this modern society, rather than pedants in the “ivory tower”.

as a coin has two sides, the mobile phone, while providing convenience, causes trouble too. in classrooms, the untimely ringing interrupts lectures and destroys the atmosphere of study, so it prompts many complaints. and the mobile phone users themselves also suffer.

therefore, we need to think more about how to integrate mobile phones properly into our lives.

(How to Deal with Stress)

stress is a state of being upset that happens when we are under pressure. both our feelings and our bodies get upset. we can even get emotionally and physically sick if we have too much stress for too long.stress can come at us from every direction.for instance, it can come from fights with other people. it can come when we have too many things to do and too little time to do them. it can also come when we do not have enough money to pay for what we want.since stress can make us sick, we have to learn how

to deal with it. there are good ways and bad ways to do so. we should deal with stress in good ways, of course. good ways to cut down on stress include changing our lifestyles. for example, we can learn either to get along with people or to stay away from them. we can decide what to do now, what to do later, and what to leave off doing forever. we can also figure out how to get money or we can cut down on what we want.

we should not deal with stress in bad ways because bad ways to cut down on stress just lead to more troubles, for example, skipping out and leaving our work undone, blaming our problems on someone else, stealing or cheating.
