My View on the “Campus Star” Contest

正文:

Recently the campus students have been brought into focus all kinds of activities such as “Campus Star” Contest. The tidal current of campus is modelled after China's Got Talent, The Voice of China , and so on.These activities appeal much to students’ eyes.Besides,it brings some chances and challenges for us all. I aim to explore this complicated phenomenon from diverse perspectives, identify the relevant contributing factors.

Like the old saying goes: A coin has two sides.the phenomenon brings about advantages and disadvantages.First of all, “Campus Star” Contest let us all bring back to life, also,it gives us chance to release from the pressure which comes from daily study. You can see that several years later, the present good time will send us a beautiful memory. At the same time,we can get a lot of experience with the help of platform.Afterall, campus is not only the place for seeking knowledge, but also the place for realizing diverse interests. To tell the truth, “Campus Star” Contest can also lead to many problems, some of the

problems have given rise to potential threaten. One thing is that many participants are so addicated to the contest that they forget their prime task—school work.It is not worth doing so.Another thing is that the glory makes them think that they are NO.1,they are higher than others. What is worse, they may ignore and look down upon others. These disadvantages may result in some unnecessary confusion.

As far as I am concerned,I think “Campus Star” Contest should be controlled at a proper level. We need to be for it ,at the same time ,we also need to repress it in order not to hold students’ study and development back .

My View on the“Campus star”Contest

From the picture, we can see the emergence of 2013 Campus superstars as a booming activity on campus.

At an age of character and individuality being couraged and demonstrated, we see various “stars” pop up――singing stars, dancing stars, movie stars and sport stars, etc. Many schools even hold contests to choose their “Campus stars”. Although these activities make our cultural life on campus more colorful and varied, a lot of problems spring up at the same time.

First of all, these activities can result in the swelling of vanity in some students, making them become arrogant, or even fee1superior to other students. Moreover, these activities can greatly distract the students from their study. In order to become a star, they will, without any doubt, spend a lot of time and energy on the preparation and competition. The focus of their academic life will be shifted, and even worse, they can become too enthusiastic about extracurricular activities and hate the academic knowledge and skills they need to grasp for their future development.

On the whole, I think these various “Campus star” contests should be controlled on campus. After all, schools are different from any other social institutions. Extracurricular activities should be encouraged, but they should be helpful to the student’s academic study and all-round development.

Nowadays, TV PK Shows (or we can call it Talent Shows) are great hit in China and have attracted many young people. As for me, TV PK Shows, as all other things, have both positive and negative effects. Therefore, the most crucial thing is how we see them. Some people think Talent Shows provide grass-root people with a stage to display their talents, so they should seize every opportunity to show off their talents. Some College students even give up their studies to attend these TV PK Shows in the hope of becoming famous overnight. They even regard TV PK shows as a shortcut to the success. While other people reckon that TV PK Shows will develop the undergraduates’ attitude of

anxious of achieving quick success. And once they were failed in these shows, they would suffer a great psychological unbalance. This is really bad to their physical and

psychological health.

To sum up, everything has its limit. As long as the right attitude is employed, then it is OK. My View on the “Campus Star” Contest

The sense of happiness is of great significance. As a vital factor of life, it brings us power, arouses our enthusiasm for loving life, and helps us to create a promising future. However, in contemporary China, it has become a trend for Chinese people to hold different views about happiness and the way to enhance it.

In addition to material basis, the sense of happiness also refers to several others aspects. Firstly, based on a recent survey, a majority of individuals admit that they are no longer content with being fed and clothed adequately, and their happiness depends more on their success in careers, friendship and love. Secondly, a great many people claim that health is the key to their sense of happiness. It is health that enables them to build up a solid foundation for anything significant.

As a college student, I am convinced that never can money equal happiness. To enhance our sense of happiness, we should educate, advocate and encourage our friends and classmates to enrich their knowledge, broaden their horizon and cultivate their ability.

In recent years, many classics, especially the Four Great Classical Novels, have been apapted in improper ways. For examples, in a TV series adapted from Journey to the West, Monkey King ridiculously falls in love with an evil spirit. It has gone too far from the original version in which the upright Monkey shows no mercy to ant evil spirit.

Various reasons account for this phenomenon. Firstly, readers' or audiences' preference plays a critical role. In this market economy, where there is demand, there is supply. So many playwriters or directors cater for these people's need. Secondly, some producers want to attract people and make profit.

To curb this phenomenon, I think two measures should be taken. First, it's necessary to change the way people treat classics. An adapted version that goes too far from the original one is not merely disrespect to the author, but also misleads the readers or the audiences. Second, the concerned authority should check and ban TV series, videos or books that spoof classics.

Online Shopping

Nowadays with the ever rapid development and increasing popularity of the information technology ,

shopping on the Internet has been a fashion especially among the youngsters.

Online shopping has made our daily life more convenient and comfortable. For example , shopping on the internet can save students a great deal of time on the way between home and store, so they would be able to concentrate more time and energy on their academic work. The internet has shortened the distance between manufacturers and consumers and thus we can even buy goods in other countries .On the other hand , lack of the face to face deal makes online shopping less reliable and trustworthy. What’ s more, the delivery will increase the risk of items’ damage. In my opinion, shopping on the internet is a irreversible(不能倒转的) trend. More and more people will be accustomed to it. It will be much more popular in the near future. And at the same time we should take some measures to make it perfect.

Green Consumption

The conception of green consumption has gradually become popular in China. More and more green foods are making their appearance on the market and more and more people are becoming conscious of environmental protection.

However, there still exist quite a few difficulties in the further promotion of green consumption. On the one hand, many people are still not quite clear of the advantages of green foods. On the other hand, due to high profits, many fake green foods are found in the market. Moreover, many consumers don’t want to pay extra money for green foods.

There may be several ways to solve these problems. Firstly, the government should supervise the good quality strictly to protect consumers’ interests. Secondly, the conception of green consumption should be further promoted and emphasized. Thirdly, the government should work together with manufacturers to make the price more reasonable.

Frustration Education should be Strengthened among College Students

It is universally acknowledged that college students should be guided correctly to face

frustrations in life. Frustration is inevitable during our life, and frustration education should be carried out among colleges and universities. The truth of it is deep and profound.

A great many remarkable illustrations contribute to this argument. A case in point is that there are an increasing number of college students committing suicide each year when confronted with some kind of frustration. This is close to suggest that strengthening frustration education allows of no delay. As a matter of fact, it seems that successful people tend to be good at dealing with frustrations. Moreover, most of the students are often annoyed and discouraged by frustrations instead of drawing lessons.

Judging from the evidence offered, we might safely draw the conclusion that frustration education is essential to the college students. But what is worth noting is colleges should also provide psychological service for the students while giving frustration education. To conclude, college students should be guided in the right path when facing setbacks in life.

In most colleges and universities the examination is used as a chief means of deciding whether a student succeeds or fails in mastering a particular subject. Although it does the job quite efficiently, its side effects are also enormous.

To begin with, examinations lower the standards of teaching. Since teachers are often judged by examination results, they are reduced to training their students in exam techniques. No subjects can be taught successfully merely through being approached with intent to take examinations. In addition, the most undesirable effect is that examinations encourage bad study habits. As the examination score is the only criterion for his academic performance, a student is driven to memorize mechanically rather than to think creatively.

In fact, few of us admit that examinations can contribute anything really important to the students’ academic development. If that is the case, why cannot we make a change and devise something more efficient and reliable than examinations?

As the saying goes, you don't know what happiness is until you lose it', you don't know what health is until you are ill. "Health is of vital importance to life" sounds like a cliche to everyone, but it is absolutely true.

The negligence of the delicate balance of your body and soul, the harmful habits such as smoking, excessive drinking and burning mid-night oil will catch up with you someday. How many big plans are interrupted by bad health! Even a normal life is unimaginable without the guarantee of health.

How to keep fit is an eternal topic of diversity and controversy. Regardless of all the different suggestions poured from all kinds of sources, one should do at least two things for him/herself. First, hold an active and optimistic attitude toward life and maintain a mental well-being. Second, live a regular life and keep a balanced diet. Anyway, a healthy life is within reach when you begin to adjust your mind and body.

Giving Children Cell Phones

More and more children are showing up at school each September with cell phones. Many parents buy their children a cell phone because it is a nice safety measure. It gives those working parents a little sense of control and security to know when their children are off campus and on their way home.

But having a cell phone might be a problem. Parents may find themselves facing a frightening bill at the end of the month. The reason: chatting on the phone and sending text messages can soon become the favorite pastime of preteens and teenagers. Worse still, cell phones in schools can lead to classroom distractions, text-message cheating and inappropriate photographs.

Knowing their children can always be reached is reassuring for parents. But before buying their child a cell phone, I think parents should decide if the child is really capable of managing his or her own phone. Besides, parental control must be exercised in the use of the phone. For example, they should set limits on how long the child is allowed to stay on the phone.

Should Food Be Banned on the Subway?

Currently, some cities are considering a food ban on subways, which has sparked heated discussion. Some people say food should be banned because of the trash and rats they attract. And, garbage from discarded food can cause track fires. Beyond sanitary and mechanical

concerns, food can also cause fights, as was discovered last week by one passenger who criticized a woman eating steamed stuffed bun on the subway.

However, some others are opposed to the idea. They argue that people like eating in the train in the morning because they don't have enough time to eat at their houses or restaurants. Sometimes that may be the only time or meal a transit rider may be able to eat especially when traveling long distances. Besides, there are people, for example diabetics, who do require food at various times to maintain blood-sugar levels.

Personally, I'm against the ban because of the huge inconvenience it would cause to commuters, and the expense involved in enforcing it. Still, I believe we should have a little

common courtesy. I think we all have responsibility to try to treat our subway system and fellow riders with respect, and that extends to food as well.

Therefore, it is not easy for common people to afford an apartment in the cities. Secondly, most people sharing the flat with others are those who have just graduate from the university. They don't have enough money to afford the flat and don't want to borrow money from their parents neither.Every coin has two sides, so does flat sharing. On one hand, flat sharing can help people save money on renting. On the other hand, it may bring up some problems such as who pays for what, and in what proportion. However, in my view, that won't be a problem as long as one deals with the problems kindly and fairly.2、幸福感话题:How to Enhance the Sense of Happiness1. The sense of happiness is of great significance. As a vital factor of life, it brings us power, arouses our enthusiasm for loving life, and helps us to create a promising future. However, in contemporary China, it has become a trend for Chinese people to hold different views about happiness and the way to enhance it.In addition to material basis, the sense of happiness also refers to several others aspects. To enhance our sense of happiness, we should educate, advocate and encourage our friends and classmates to enrich their knowledge, broaden their horizon and cultivate their ability3、传统文化消失1. On the losing of Traditional CultureIt is widely noted that lots of traditional culture is disappearing along with the development of technology. Many ancient architectures and traditonal ways of living have been deserted.

It seems that the traditional culture and craftsmanship will be replaced in this modern era.The following reasons can account for the above phenomenon. Firstly, traditional technologies are always considered ineffective while the new sciences are always highly efficient, because modern science and technology facilitate both our daily and academic life a lot, with which we can save much money and time. Secondly, it is costly to protect the traditional culture, especially the maintenance and repair of the historical buildings. In my opinion, although traditional culture is an ancient heritage, it couldn't keep pace with the development of society. It is the tide of history that the traditional culture and technology will no doubt be eliminated in the end.4、校园里的各种“星”赛1. My View on the “Campus Star” ContestAt an age of character and individuality being encouraged and demonstrated, we see various “stars” pop up—singing stars, dancing stars, movie stars and sport stars, etc. Many schools even hold contests to choose their “Campus Stars”. Although these activities make our cultural life in campus more colorful and varied, a lot of problems spring up at the same time.First of all, these activities can result in the swelling of vanity in some students, making them become arrogant, or even feel superior to other students. On the whole, I think these various “Campus Star” contests should be controlled in the campus. After all, schools are different from any other social institutions. Extracurricular activities should be encouraged, but they should be helpful to the student’s academic study and all-round development. Online open courses are gaining popularity in recent years. Follwoing globally famous universities like Yale and Harvard, some universities in China have also started to offer online open courses. Those courses have attracted people from all classes with different occupations. The courses have brought many benefits to people. Many of the courses are provided by universities in foreign countries, and thus offer fresh ideas to us. Through them, we can keep up with what people are thinking all over the world. But that can also be a problem. Some of the courses m

ay not be very suitable for Chinese students because of cultural differences and may cause chaos on Chinese campus. In my opinion, online open course is useful and we should make use of it to broaden our horizons. But we should also remember to have our own thinking and not be brainwashed by improper ideas.6、大学生参加选秀话题:1. While other people reckon that TV PK Shows will develop the undergraduates’ attitude of anxious of achieving quick success. And once they were failed in these shows, they would suffer a great psychological unbalance. This is really bad to their physical and psychological health. To sum up, everything has its limit. As long as the right attitude is employed, then it is OK. Adaptation Should Not Go Too Far From the Classics1. Adaptation Should Not Go Too Far From the ClassicsIn recent years, many classics, especially the Four Great Classical Novels, have been apapted in improper ways. For examples, in a TV series adapted from Journey to the West, Monkey King ridiculously falls in love with an evil spirit. It has gone too far from the original version in which the upright Monkey shows no mercy to ant evil spirit.Various reasons account for this phenomenon. Firstly, rea

ders' or audiences' preference plays a critical role. Second, the concerned authority should check and ban TV series, videos or books that spoof classics.8、莫言获诺贝尔奖话题:莫言获诺贝尔文学奖1. Several months ago, a good news swept on China that Mo Yan won the 2012 Nobel Prize for literature. After this bigevent, Mo Yan, the first Chinese resident to win the prize, has been the crispy fried chicken among China. Gaomi County in Shandong Province becomes a tourist attraction because of his popularity. For his award, Chinese media overwhelmingly report this exciting news. People are rushing to the bookstores tobuy his famous book and some are even out of stock.Generally speaking, his award means a lot to China, especially Chinese literature. The Nobel Prize for literature is a dream of Chinese literary field and all Chinese people. However, as a largecultural country that owns countless classic works, China had no winner of theNobel Prize for literature which had become a great pity. Therefore, this prize finishes a pile wish of Chinese people. In addition, although we have a great number of great works, very few people can read a book carefully and tranquilly in the impetuous society. I think this exciting news will inspire people’s enthusiasm towards literature, which is a great motivation to the development of literature. This is what we are happy to see.
