【押题 2】(题号:345784)

According to game maker Hasbro, approximately 750 million people have played the well-known game Monopoly since it was invented in the 1930s. Charles Darrow is typically credited as the inventor of the world’s most famous board game. However, he likely originated his version of Monopoly from one of several other games similarly involving house buying and selling that were already in existence before the 1930s when he got his patent(专利) for the game.

A probable reason that Darrow’s Monopoly became the hugely successful game that still exists today is that he took a great approach to producing it. Other similar games existed, but they had no board or regulation pieces. With the help of his wife and son, who decorated the sets with details, Darrow personally created the pieces and boards that became the first Monopoly game sets. His extra work in creating the entire environment that players needed gave his game something extra that other variations did not have.

Darrow had success in selling his games in various parts of the country. Several Philly area stores were the first to carry his game and sell it in large quantities. However, Darrow had difficulty selling his game to the major game producer of the time, Parker Brothers. He was told that his game was too complex and had fundamental errors in its design that would limit its appeal. Eventually, the continued sales he managed on his own forced Parker Brothers to reassess the worth of his game. In the end, the company agreed to produce the game and shortly afterwards it became the bestselling game in the country.

That success turned Charles Darrow into a millionaire, which is the Darrow initially began work on Monopoly to help support himself and his family following the financial troubles tied to the stock market crash of 1939. Thus, Charles Darrow became a millionaire by producing a game that allows “regular” people to feel like they are buying and selling real homes and land like millionaires.

5.What made Darrow’s Monopoly different from other similar games?

A. The way of avoiding financial troubles.B. The safe environment created for player.C. The buying and selling of real homes and landD. The specific pieces and a playing board in each set.

6.The author suggests in Paragraph 3 that ________.

A. Monopoly was initially too complex to playB. Darrow failed to make expected profit in PhillyC. certain errors in Monopoly limited its attractionD. some people once doubted Monopoly would be popular

7.What does the underlined word “irony” in the last paragraph mean?

A. financial gain B. unexpected result

C. marketing plan D. unsatisfying reward

8.What is the passage mainly about?

A. The difficulties in Darrow’s life.B. The comparison of some board games.C. The way to the success of Darrow’s game.D. The business management of Parker Brothers.

【押题3】(题号:345781)

Your car is a necessary part of your life. You use it every day. Of course, you want to hold on to is so you make sure it has the latest alarm and immobilizer(汽车防盗器). But despite all these, cars like yours are still stolen every day. In fact, in this country, one car is stolen almost every minute! And if your car is stolen, you only have a 50:50 chance of seeing it again.

Each year, car crime costs nearly £3 billion. Of course, if you’re insured, you won’t lose out, or will you? Firstly, you will have to pay extra insurance later on, and then you may not be offered the full amount by the agent. You will probably have to hire a car and you will also lose the value of the contents and accessories(配件) in the car.

Now comes the solution. An RAC Trackstar system, hidden in one of 47 possible secret location(位置) in your car, is the key of our system. If your car is stolen, radio signals are sent at twenty-second intervals from the car to the RAC Trackstar National Control Center via a satellite network. Then a computer gives the vehicle’s exact location, speed and direction.

The RAC Trackstar National Control Center, which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, will immediately inform the police in the area where the car is located. Because the police receive information every twenty seconds, they will always know the vehicle’s location. Once the thief has been arrested, your car will be returned to you.

RAC Tackstar is unique in being able to provide the National Control Center with details of the exact location of your car, its speed and direction. And speed is the key to successful recovery of a stolen vehicle. RAC Trackstar Control will immediately tell the you if your car has been stolen. RAC Trackstar’s constant updates mean the police are kept

informed of the car’s location. All these greatly improve your chances of seeing your car again.

9.If your car is stolen, you will have to_______.

A. hire a new car B. pay more insurance

C. buy a RAC Trackstar system D. inform the National Control Center 10.The Trackstar system can tell the police______.

A. where the car is B. how the car is stolen

C. who the thief is D. what brand the car is 11.The underlined word “It” in the last paragraph refers to ______.

A. the local police station B. the Guardian Option

C. the insurance company D. the RAC Trackstar Control 12.According to the passage, people with RAC Trackstar______.

A. are more likely to get the stolen cars backB. have less chance of being in an accidentC. seldom get their vehicles damagedD. automatically find directions

【押题4】(题号:346504)

If you are a traditional traveler who believes cameras are irreplaceable, here are some things you should pay attention to when looking for the perfect camera.

Sensor size

Along with the megapixel(百万像素)count, the size of the sensor dictates the general image quality as well as the camera’s performance in low light. It also determines whether the camera can electronically put the details it captures bigger enough to see — which is what makes the pictures not clear enough to see when you view the photos on a bigger screen.

Portability

“The important thing is that the camera isn’t too big and heavy, and that you have a good zoom(变焦距镜头) range for both wide-angle and telephoto(远距摄影照片)shots,” Atherton told CNN. A good choice would be a slim, light pocket camera with a high-qualified built-in optical zoom. “These are very popular for travel as they are light, but built with a telephoto lens that can zoom up to 60 times,” Atherton said.

Zoom and shutter(快门)speed

For action or crowd shots, a fast shutter speed is a key factor. “When dealing with anything that’s active — wildlife or people in action on the street — faces change within a tiny part of a second,” said Arnold, “a fast shutter speed is helpful in shooting the several hundred photos you might need to get that single winning shot.”

13.According to Atherton, what isn’t a requirement for an ideal camera?

A. Portable shape. B. Wide-ranged zoom.

C. Good telephoto lens. D. Reasonable sensor size.

14.What will contribute to a satisfactory photo of a running lion in the wild?

A. The sensor size. B. The zoom range.

C. The shutter speed. D. The megapixel.

15.Which of the following can be the best title of the passage?

A. How to choose ideal travel cameras?B. How to put a camera into good use?C.A fashionable camera — up for saleD.A high-quality camera — a modern life’s must

【解析】推理判断题。根据第四本书中的第一句话“The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho,

according to game maker Hasbro,篇三:game,maker

Before we will actually create the scrolling shooter game we need to delve a bit into an important concept of Game Maker: the use of variables. This simple concept will provide a very powerful

mechanism to enable much more interesting game play. So what is a variable(变量)? It can best be seen as a property of an instance of an object.

As you should know, there are certain properties(道具) we can indicate(表明) when we define an object. For example we can set whether it is visible or whether it is solid. There are also a number of actions that change certain properties. For example there is an action to change the position or the speed of the instance.

Each instance(实例) has a number of such properties and there are also a number of global properties, like the score, that are not related to individual instances. All properties are stored in so-called variables that have a name. Here are some of the

properties/variables that each instance has:

x: the x coordinate(坐标) of the instance

y: the y coordinate of the instance

hspeed: horizontal(水平) speed (in pixels per step)

vspeed: vertical(垂直) speed (in pixels per step)

direction: current direction of motion in degrees, 0 being right, and going anticlockwise(逆时针) to 360 being right again

speed: the current speed in this direction

visible: whether the object is visible (1, or true) or invisible (0, or false)

solid: whether the object is solid (1, or true) or not (0, or false) And here are some global(总体) variables:

score: the current value of the score

lives: the current number of lives

health: the current health of the player (defaults to 100)

mouse_x: the x coordinate of the mouse

mouse_y: the y coordinate of the mouse

room_speed: current speed (FPS) of the room in steps per second room_caption: caption shown in the window title

room_width: width of the room in pixels

room_height: height of the room in pixels(像素)

There are many, many more variables, both local for the instances, and global. All of them can be found in the Game Maker documentation. There are actions which manipulate(操纵) the

value of certain variables but, as we will see, you can also manipulate them directly. What is better, you can define your own variables and use these as well.

For example, as we will see below, we want our spaceship to be able to shoot only once every five steps in the game. So our space ship needs a property to indicate whether it can shoot. We use a variable for this property that we call can_shoot. (A variable name can only consist of letters and the underscore symbol. Variable name are case-sensitive, so Can_Shoot is not the same variable as can_shoot.) In the creation event of the spaceship we set this variable to 1 (we always use 1 to indicate true). When the player wants to fire a shot we check the value of the variable to see whether this is allowed. Whenever a shot is fired we set the property to 0 (indicating that shooting is temporarily not allowed).

Next we use an alarm event to set the property back to 1 after five steps. Below we will describe this in more detail. In a similar way we can use variables to indicate whether the spaceship has an active shield(防御), whether it has some special weapon(武器) upgrade, etc.

3. Variable Actions

There are two important actions to deal with variables directly, which can be found in the Control tab:

Set the value of a variable. With this action you can change the value of a given variable. This can either be one of the built-in variables or your own variable. You specify the name of the variable and the new value. When you check the Relative box the given value is added to the current value of the variable. Please note that this can only be done if the variable already has a value assigned to it! Rather than providing a simple value for the variable you can also give an expression. For example, to double the score you could set the value of the variable score to value 2*score.

If a variable has a value. With this action you can check what the value of a particular variable is. If the value of the variable is equal to the number given, the question returns true and the next action or block of actions is performed. If it is not equal, the next action or block of actions is not performed. You can also indicate that the check should be whether the variable value is smaller than the given value or larger than the given value. Actually, you are not restricted to using variables but can check any expression you like.

Later, we will see a number of examples of the use of these actions.

There is one more thing you need to know about variables. As I indicated above there are local variables that "belong" to an instance and there are global variables. When you use your own variables these are always local variables that only exist for the instance in whose actions you use them. If you want to use your own global variables you have to prefix their name with the word global and a dot. So, for example, you can use a variable global.bonus to indicate the number of bonus points gathered by the player. Always be careful that you use variable names that do not yet exist and are also different from the names of sprites, sounds, etc. One way to achieve this is to always let your variables start with e.g. var_.

Everyone on the bus laughed crazily. Ryan himself up and made his way to an empty seat. He tried to laugh with us, but his face was bright red with . The rest of the morning flew by. I did well in my math test. I read two more chapters of To Kill a Mockingbird in English class. It wasn’t long before the bell sounded. I met my friends from the cheerleading team in the dining hall. 第三部分:阅读理解(共两节,40分)

第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,共30分)

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。

A

Your car is a necessary part of your life. You use it every day. Of course, you want to hold on to it so you make sure it has the latest alarm and immobilizer(汽车防盗器).

An RAC Trackstar system, hidden in one of 47 possible secret locations(位置) in your car, is the key of our system.

RAC Trackstar is unique in being able to provide the National Control Center with details of the exact location of your car, its speed and direction. And speed is the key to successful recovery of a stolen vehicle. RAC Trackstar Control will immediately tell the police if you report your car stolen and under the 24-hour Guardian Option. will also tell you if your car has been stolen. RAC Trackstar’s constant updates mean the police are kept informed of the car’s location. All these greatly improve your chances of seeing your car again.

56. If your car is stolen, you will have to _____.

A. hire a new car

B. pay more insurance

C. buy a RAC Trackstar system

D. inform the National Control Center

57. The Trackstar system can tell the police _____.

A. where the car is B. how the car is stolen

C. who the thief is D. what brand the car is

Game Maker best Practices For experienced programmers new to GM

EricDB

I know that we are in the minority of GM users, but I think that a lot of the better games come from people who were experienced programmers before we ever heard of GM. I've been using GM for about 3 years now, and I'd like to share some of what I've learned during that time. This guide should also be helpful to someone who has a fair amount of experience with GM and is having difficulty keeping their larger projects organized.

Rule 1: Never use Drag-n-Drop!

You probably knew this already, but GM has a full-featured language, GML, that can do everything that can be accomplished through DnD. Since you're comfortable with coding, there's no reason to bother with DnD whatsoever. It's frustrating and inefficient.

Rule 2: Use variable prefixes

In GM, every resource (sprite, object, room, script, everything) is referenced by an ID, which is an integer such as 1000067. The name of the resource acts as a sort of global variable which evaluates to that ID. You'll do yourself a favor if you give your sprites, rooms, objects, etc names like sprTank, rmTitleScreen, objPlayer.

Rule 3: Don't put any code in object events

When defining your objects, you will need them to respond to events such as Create, Step, and others. Don't put the code right there in the event. One reason is that GM only allows one object's code edit window to be open at any given time. If you want to copy/paste some code from a different object, you have to close the window, open the other, copy, close the other, open the original, and paste. You'll get tired of that real quick. Instead, simply call a script. GM allows any number of script windows to be opened at the same time.

It's important to organize your scripts, since you'll end up with a lot of them. I create one group (right-click Scripts, choose Add Group) for each object. Then I put the scripts that apply to that object under its folder. That keeps them organized and easy to access.

The second reason you shouldn't have your code directly in the events is that it confuses the notion of an event and a method. (I'm gonna get into some programmer terminology here so if you don't understand all the words I use don't sweat it.) GM is "sort-of" object oriented. What GM calls an object is roughly the equivalent of a class, and what GM calls an instance is just that, an instance.

You might be wondering how you define a method for one of your classes. Well, there's no direct way. But if you have a script folder for each object (think class), then it becomes natural to define your methods as extra scripts in that folder. The equivalent of "player_instance.move_left()", in GML, would be, "with (player_instance) { player_move_left() }. It doesn't look exactly like traditional OO code, but it acts pretty similar. Each instance has its own local variables, just like "normal" object instances. Notice that I named the script "player_move_left". That's because, even if you have scripts in separate folders, they still cannot have the same names. The folders are only to make it easy for you to organize them during development...as far as GM is concerned, they don't exist.

References, or Pointers

GM has no C-style pointers, which is a good thing. Direct memory access just doesn't make sense in this context. References to object instances are easy to get: every instance has a local variable called id which is a unique integer. This can be used with standard dot notion: "obj_ref.var = 1" or in a with statement: "with (obj_ref) { do_something() }". If you really needed something like a linked list or binary tree, you could create an object type, call it objNode, and give it local variables for its value and for the other node reference(s).

Why would you use GM if you're an experienced programmer?

Well, it's easy! Especially for experienced programmers, you can take a game from idea to playable prototype in a day or less, and polish it up to a finished product in another week or so. Plus there's a very active community that will look at your game, find bugs, and give feedback. There are performance hits you take, but even that will go away soon--GM6, due out in the Fall of 2004, will take advantage of 3D hardware acceleration to eliminate the current graphical limitations.
