美式论文、报告写作技巧

编者按：美式教育的特点即是课程内容强调学生参与及创新运用，因此，报告便成了常见的考核学生学习成果的方式，比如实验报告、学期报告、专题报告、研究报告及论文（含毕业论文）等。研究生presentation 及 seminar 的机会更是占很大的比重，有些甚至占学期成绩很大比例。如何完成报告、论文同时得到良好的成绩，是本文提供给有志留学的有心人参考的目的。

美国大学生由於自小已养成自动寻找答案习惯，在启发式的教育环境下，写报告、论文对他们来说比较不陌生，虽然专业知识上美国学生不见得比外籍学生强，但是表达能力由於自小培养，加上英语能力的优势，常比外籍学生在报告、论文方面有较隹的利基。反之中国学生比较缺乏报告写作的训练，因此如果在留学过程中无法适应美式教育会比较辛苦，其实论文、报告的写作要领其实不难，只要把握技巧就可水到渠成。

通常论文由篇首(Preliminaries)，本文(Texts)以及参考资料(References)三部分构成；而这三大部分各自内容如下：

提要(Summary)

目录(Tables and Appendixes)

(二) 本文：

引言(Introduction)

主体，含篇(Part)、章(Chapter)、节(Section) 、以及注释 (Footnotes)

附录资料(Appendix)。

进行论文或报告写作之前，先要确定想要表达的主题，主题确定后，将其具体表达，即为题目。题目可以提供研究者：

通常在确定题目之後就开始找资料从事研究，建议在找资料之前最好去问教授有哪些参考资

料来源可供参考引用。构思为确定写作大纲或 Proposal 的先前步骤， 大纲是论文、报告的骨干， Proposal 是研究的架构、流程及范围的说明书。如何构思大纲或Proposal为论文、报告写作前的必要准备工作。好的论文或研究报告，要基于在完整、详实的资料上，而参考资料除了和教授商借之外，最主要的来源就是图书馆了，一般参考资料来源可分成教科书或手册、政府机构的报告、科技或商业方面的杂志，及会议性质的资料。此外现代的电脑资料库也可帮助收集资料，在国外可利用学校的电脑连线资料库寻找自己需要的资料。当一切准备就绪，即可开始着手写报告，一般报告还分大报告如期末、专题等报告，及小报告如 Seminar 式的报告。

就算是小报告，也至少应含

(一)TITLE PAGES ：包含主题名称、作者、日期

(二)Summary： 即主要的结论

(三)Introduction：包括理论背景及内容

(四)Technical Sections：是论文的主体，为最重要的部份应再细分为 几个片断。

(五)Conclusions：即扼要的结论

(六)Appendixes：复杂公式的导引及叁考资料和电脑程式的报表可附加在 此项

美式报告的撰写通常要打字，两行式，行间若有未拼完的字要以音节来连接。写报告通常需要用到电脑，如有计算数字统计图表的需求，也常会用到程式软体如PASCAL、LOTUS，统计分析软体如SAS，也是不可或缺的，电脑绘图在今日已成为工商界及学术界的重要工具，文书处理更是最基本的要求，因此Word for Window、Powerpoint、Excel便成了颇受欢迎的工具。此外在英文语法、文法上的润饰与修改，如能请老美帮忙会比较好。

论文、报告完成后有时会需要做解说(Presentation)，用英文来讲演对中国人来说算是一大挑战，通常课堂讲演时间为十五分钟到三十分钟，若是论文囗试则至少一小时。投影机及麦克风的使用对讲演的效果有很大帮助，正式讲演前多预习几次，时间宜控制适中，上台时忌讳低头拿着报告照念，需留意听众的反应，切中主题，避免太多数字的导引。

In my understanding, if we refer to an ideal college life as a formal western dinner, then a high GPA, that is, Grade Point Average, should be the main course, while an active part in

activities, together with associations, means the appetizer. Some romances, of course, play the role as desserts. They are the 3 key elements for an ideal college life.

Those, however, are not what college life is all about. As we all know, college is wildly different from middle school. It connects not only adolescence to adulthood, but also the ivory tower to the real society. Therefore, the ideal college life is that I become matured both physically and mentally, and that I obtain qualified academic knowledge and get well prepared for society at the same time.

Under this circumstance, I never expect my college life to be too ideal, or you can call it too perfect. Will Phones Kill Letter Writing?

Today, more than ever before, we depend on the expediency brought about by such modern devices as phones. As a result, when we feel the need to communicate with friends, instead of picking up the pen to set down to serious writing, we pick up the phone. You may or may not realize how much our library, the landmark of our university or even of our town, weighs in our minds. It is a place we are most proud of and where we like to spend most of our time. In such an honorable place we have noticed recently some phenomena which hurt our eye. Some seats in the reading rooms are „permanently reserved vacant seats‟, that is, some students “occupy” some seats they never come to use. What a terrible waste of valuable resource! Some other students are too noisy, talking among themselves, leaving mobile phone beeping anytime. And some library staff is ill-mannered and rude and not helpful most of time. These and other undesirable things have already done damage to the fame of our university and caused a lot of inconvenience to the users.

Dear President, we hope that something can be done to change and reverse the current situation. Let our cozy, comfortable, quiet, effective library come back.

A Welcome Back Celebration

Yang Ling is my fellow classmate and friend. Recently she had a terrible condition and has been hospitalized for over a month. She was depressed, sad and downhearted. She told us so many things are working against her, and she didn‟t know how to change and redirect herself.

The day before she was released from hospital, we, some of her friends decided to give a surprise to cheer her up the next day. That night, she came back, shoulders bent and head fallen. She was so deep in her bad mood that she didn‟t realize that her dorm is the only one in the building that is dark. She turned the key in the lock and opened the door when the room was suddenly lit like a bright day. Her eyes sparkled with delight and surprise. She saw all her classmates crowded in this tiny room. Everyone was holding something in his hand, flowers, fruits, cards, cheering, “Welcome back!” She was so moved that she burst into tears. And smile returned to her pretty face. She said “Thank you all.” heartedly.

Ever since that day, happiness and delight have stayed with her.

My fellow students,

Last Friday, the Students‟ Union of our Department organized a clean-up project to Zhongshan Lake. The purpose of this project is to enhance(加强)the environment awareness of general public. Late in the afternoon around 4, a group of 35 volunteers went to the park where we pick up the trash(垃圾)left by some tourists. As head of the group, I would like to report to you on the event.

Actually, we did a wonderful job. When we were collecting the trash near the lake, many people paused to watch and then came to our help, showing considerable appreciation and support. But our work still left some to be desired. For one thing, since our project started late in the afternoon, hours were not long enough to attract enough people as we had predicted. For the other, lots of people passed by apparently not knowing what we were doing. But for these two drawbacks, our project could have been much better and more effective.

So, following are two of my suggestions: next time we have similar activities, try to start earlier, say in the morning. In this case we can put in more hours. And also, as we are getting along, we can put up some posters to tell people what we are doing and call their attention to environment protection. Thank you.

咸丰县忠堡镇民族中学701班:胡振 指导老师：周静 我是一只“虫”，但绝非一般的虫，而是一只“书虫”。我爱“啃书”，简直到了如痴如醉的程度。当然，我的啃是很有讲究的，并不是来者不拒，而是有选择的“细嚼慢咽”。

我知道“啃书”是一种乐趣，“啃着”精美的文章，仿佛吸吮着甘甜的乳汁，滋润着自己的心田。“啃到”绝妙之处时，真想拍案而起，大声疾呼：此真乃人间极品，精神食粮！“啃到”每一天知识的甘霖，都会融入大脑，为大脑增添容量。

“啃书”亦可交友。面对书本，就像面对一位熟悉的朋友，人生的知己，“啃着”上面的文字，就想和他们在娓娓叙谈，谈论着大千世界的纷繁复杂；谈论着人世间的山水草木，花鸟鱼虫；谈论着人间的喜怒哀乐，酸甜苦辣。

我爱书，更爱“啃书”。可是自从上了中学，除了书本上和自己用钱买的课外辅导资料以外，连一本课外书都没有，甚至，我还不知到图书馆在哪里，现在学校在搞工程，说是把男生宿舍修建好了，再修塑胶操场，然后再建图书馆。那要等多久啊！可是他们还是挡不住我的欲望，因为我心中还有一个他们不知道的图书馆。我的知识也有一部分是从那里学到的。我心中的图书馆，它像北京故宫那样大的容积；像缅甸仰光大金塔那样华美的外形；像世界第一大河亚马逊河那样源源不断的书本。恐怕我这一辈子都不用愁了。当然光靠巨大的容积，华美的外形，源源不断的书本是不够的，还要有与别人截然不同

的规定。里面没有看管员，也没有老师，就只有我们这些风华正茂的青少年，想“啃”哪一本，就“啃”哪一本，我们摆脱了束缚，就像野马挣脱了缰绳，在草原狂奔。

这只是我心中的图书馆，可现实中的还要等多久啊。于是，我又幻想着，这么大个图书馆，一个人在那里面看书难免会空虚，会寂寞。这不是问题。在你孤独寂寞的时候，拿起一本书静静地欣赏着，那些文字，会给你带来前所未有的恬静，冰冷的灵魂仿佛也温暖了。在你空虚寂寞的时候，拿起一本书，翻阅那些跳跃的文字，快乐是难以言表的，舞蹈的灵魂仿佛也张扬了!这时你会感到无限的快乐，不会再感到寂寞、空虚，因为你和你的朋友叙谈的正高兴。想着，想着，我又想到了另一个地方---图书馆。幻想中的“书香”又把我带入了一个如同仙境般的“世外桃源”，我慢慢的推开通往“桃源”的大门，啊！这不正是我心中的图书馆吗？巨大的容积，华美的外形。再推开门，这么多的书本，没有老师的管理。是的，是的，真的是的。我太开心，太激动啦！这真的是我心目中的图书馆。翻开里面的书本，我看到了历史的兴衰，看到了广阔而精彩的大千世界，看到了昨天与明天，看到了我们的未来······它使我严肃的思索着，茁壮的成长。可惜这只是幻觉。幻觉也好，现实也罢，我只希望我永远都停留在一丝幻觉之中，因为我不想离开这个“世外桃源”----图书馆。

图书馆是人类辉煌的创就，而书本是人类思想的精华，智慧的结晶。生活因思想而丰富，人生因阅读而精彩，而书本又因图书馆而变得熠熠生辉。

在我的心灵深处，藏着一家图书馆。它既不像新华书店那样繁华，也不像三味书屋那样雅致。但是，图书馆里却有着数不清的“珍宝”。它，便是我心中的图书馆，名叫“心灵图书馆”。

偌大的图书馆里，只有一位管理员。她是一个扎着麻花辫，有着水灵灵的大眼睛和恬静微笑的大姐姐。她是那么和蔼，总是和我们一起玩耍；她是那么亲切，从来没有管理员的生硬与冰冷；她是那么温和，从来都不会责怪我们„„多好的一位大姐姐呀！有了她的温暖与陪伴，我们看书也更加认真了。

看书的时候，老站着可不行呀！腰酸腿痛手抽筋，哪有心思去看书？所以，图书馆里特意设了几排椅子、桌子，放在“图书阅览室”里，看累了的人，可以去那儿坐坐，把书放在桌子上，继续在书的海洋里遨游，去为丑小鸭变成白天鹅而欢欣，为高尔基苦难的童年而悲叹，为汤姆·索亚在山洞迷路而着急，为鲁滨孙的机智勇敢而感到敬佩„„
