Ambition plays a very important role in everyone’s life,because it is a guide for us to make decisions and choices.We use it to recognise what is important and what is trivial for us in life.We also use it to decide what makes us significant or tiny.Then we can clearly know what we do or refuse to do.

When I was a child,ambition in my mind was just the same as those things which I could get good grades or receive the praise from my parents and teachers. As I get older, I become to realise that ambition is a dream that a kind of person I want to be such as teachers, businessmen etc..And now ambition is not simply a dream, it’s a kind of attitude towards life.We all make decisions and choices according to our ambition,then we get the results.As Joseph Epstein said “We decide.We choose.And as we decide and choose,so are our lives formed.In the end,forming our own destiny is what ambition is about.”

Ambition can fulfill our lives. First of all, ambition gives us an objective to chase to achieve.We will strive for it all the time.No matter what the result is,we get the process that is enough to

satisfied ourselves as a response.In addition,only when we have ambition,can we have motivation to do everything we decide to do. Ambition just like a colourful pictrue.We must draw the structrue firstly,then we can paint it with all the colours we want.During the time we paint the pictrue,we can have the feelings that others cannot understand forever.So just enjoy it!

This notion of life, as far as I observe, is closest to truth and does apply to almost all aspects of life.

First things first, ambition renders us a sense of mission. No matter what decision you make you have to be responsible for your choice. Your choice procures（获得） you a sense of orientation, or more specially a sense of mission. And only a strong mission may enable one to accomplish greatness. Caesar of the ancient Roman Empire was urged by his ambition “I came, I saw, I conquered”，and then became an unrivaled empire builder in the history of Rome. Human beings are the most unique species among all living organisms, no other living thing is capable of changing the world their comfort, but only humans were able to grow more food, build houses and make cars even land on moon and become the super-dominant species on the earth. All of this could only be possible because humans have desires which set goals for them and they follow it until they achieve it. In short words, we have ambitions. Ambition has created a lot of great people from nobody to somebody, whose names and deeds will always be remembered forever. But ambition may not

There are two parts in what Joseph Epstein regard as the truth that I am inclined to direct my attention to. One is "As we decide and choose, so are our lives formed", in which I concur with him, and the other is "Forming our own destiny is what ambition is about", towards which my suspicion goes.

The former part seems to convey that ambition has something to do with where we will be in our later life, and it can be easy to understand. Caesar, the ancient Roman Empire, urged by his ambition "I came, I saw, I conquered," became an unrivaled empire builder in the history of Rome, Premier Zhou Enlai, always stimulated by his ambition of striving for the flourishing of China, made a great contribution to the cause of building a

Financial Disparity: Not a Barrier for Friendship

With the development of market economy in China arise the income gaps between people woking in different fields: some earn good money(赚大钱); some make ends meet(收支平衡); some others live on narrow means. On top of many social problems this financial disparity may cause, there is a claim that it affects friendship. The assumption seems reasonable, but we may find it does not really hold water(合理) by taking a close look into the subject.

First of all, true and lasting friendship is built on common values, pursuits, or hobbies rather than similar incomes. Friends are those who agree with your life views and stick to the same principles, those who encourage you when you lack confidence in meeting challenges and pursuing your dream, or those who share your interests and appreciate your tastes. Indeed, what strengthens the emotional bonds between you and your pals is not the same amount of wealth but spiritual commonalities. Of course, with similar financial backgrounds, you will probably know better about each other's life style, but the difference in this aspect will not matter if you are mutually appreciated, needed and trusted. The friendship between Marx and Engels--the two German revolutionists--is a case in point(恰当的例子). The former was often in debt while the later was well-off; yet the same socialist dream drew them together and made them forever friends.

Moreover, financial disparity between friends does not cause trouble because each of them usually lives a self-reliant life. The notice said that such dialect translation contradicts the national initiative to promote Putonghua, or Mandarin, around the country.
