The Importance of the Smile

The best example of universally understood body language may be the smile. It is not only a simple facial expression to show that you are happy, but it is also a behavior to extend your goodwill to others（定义式中心句）.

I didn’t realize the importance of a hearty smile until I was on an outing in my parents’ car at the age of ten（时间顺序一）. We were driving at a high speed when the car right in front of us suddenly stopped（时间顺序二）. Luckily, father braked sharply and narrowly missed bumping into it（时间顺序三）. Bursting into a fury, father was going to jump out of the car and have words with the driver（时间顺序四）. To my surprise, the driver got out of his car with an apologetic smile and said sorry repeatedly, which soon soothed my father’s anger（时间顺序五）.

It is true that a smile can tear down the wall between strangers（总结句）. Remember, smile, and the world smiles with you（期待句）.

荆楚网消息，美国中学生来做中国高考(论坛)的英语(论坛)试卷，感觉会如何？昨日，国侨办与我省外侨办主办的“海外华裔青少年‘中国寻根之旅’夏令营”湖北分营在汉开营，记者邀请其中三位美国中学生，就今年我省高考英语试题进行“考试”。三位考生均感叹作文题难以下手。

三位考生中，18岁的仝逸峰刚被美国杜克大学录取，是位准大学生；15岁的葛昊，即将读高二；12岁的林海即将升入初二。英语高考试卷总分为150分。因“考试”利用活动间隙进行，不具备播放听力试题的条件，这部分测试予以省略，剩下试题总分为120分。

三位“考生”答题很快，但做到书面表达部分的“短文写作”时，葛昊不禁挠起了后脑勺：“我不太明白这道题是什么意思”，仝逸峰和林海也皱起了眉头。该题要求考生根据提示谈谈微笑的作用，记者略作解释后，三人继续答题。

对照标准答案，东湖中学英语教研组组长徐昕应记者邀请批改了试题。作文满分为25分，仝逸峰得18分，葛昊、林海得19分。综合各题得分情况再换算成满分100分，仝逸峰得85.8分，葛昊和林海同为81.2分，三人平均得分为89分。

徐昕评点说，三位考生在词汇知识运用、阅读理解两部分失分很少，反映出考生的阅读、词汇能力都很强。扣分最多的，集中在“书面表达”部分。如果将作文分为五档的话，那么三人的作文成绩均属于第四档（最高是第五档），并不能得最高分。“他们的作文表达都较地道，但句式缺乏变化，比较平淡。”

葛昊认为，这份高考试卷不算难，相当于美国高一（注：美国高中四年）的水平，但他对作文题很不适应，感觉比较空，无从下手。仝逸峰说，美国作文试题多为提供一个概念或名人观点，要求考生结合生活经历或读过的书谈看法，这样考生更觉得有话可说。

徐昕说，这3位中学生生长在美国，以英语为母语，“如果他们解答高考英语试卷都感到不适应，这是否给我们的英语教学和高考评价体系带来一些思考？”

1. 审格式

2. 审人称

很明显，文章应该使用第一人称来讲述生活中自己亲身经历的一个事例。

3. 审时态

讲述的事例是发生在过去的事情，因此应该用一般过去时。论证部分是客观真理，应该使用一般现在时。

二、确定内容要点，写简单句。

讲述的故事一定要简明扼要，不要重复啰嗦。论证部分要结合实例，无需泛泛而谈。构思好故事后，将内容要点用简单句在草稿纸上写出来。

三、润色句子

适当用上高级词汇和句型以及过渡词将简单句连接起来。

四、修改

快速默读全文，确保行文简洁明了、流畅自然并检查语法、句法、单词拼写、标点等是否正确。

五、誊写

将草稿纸上修改好的文章工整干净地誊写在作文纸上。
