1. Write a note to say "thank you"

This is such a simple thing to do, but can mean so much. Write a note today to say "thank you" to someone who has helped you or done something for you. It could be to a parent, a child, a colleague, a friend, or even the helpful assistant in your local store.

Bonus points: Post or hand-deliver your note - don't just send it by email.

2. Set a fun screensaver or desktop on their computer

If you're in an office, why not switch a colleague's screensaver for something fun while they're away from their desk? Or at Home, sneak into your partner or parent's office to set up a new desktop background for them. Make it something that you know will raise a laugh.

Bonus points: Find a screensaver or desktop picture from their favorite TV show or movie.

3. Buy them their favorite candy

Even once we're adults, candy can still make us smile. If someone's a bit down, buy them their favorite candy - you could give it to them with your "thank you" note. It needn't be anything expensive: a well chosen chocolate bar might be just the thing.

Bonus points: Find out their favorite candy from their childhood, and buy that. (I'm very fond of Kinder Surprise…)

"congratulations" on a job well done or on a big life change (such as graduation) will always raise a smile. You might have to be a bit creative, but there's always some special occasion to offer an excuse to send a card.

Bonus points: Hand-make the card. Don't worry if you're not great at craft; just keep the design simple - if possible, making it personal to the recipient.

5. Do their chores

微笑---教师最美丽的语言

过去在英语教学中一方面由于我们忽视学生的情感因素，另一方面不少独生子女受社会上下不良风气的影响，自制力差，对学习缺乏足够的兴趣和信心，心理素质较弱化„„。课程标准要求我们在英语教学中不但要重视学生的语言知识和 语言技能，更要关注学生学习情感态度的发展。课程标准特别强调要关注每个学生的情感，激发他们学习英语的兴趣，帮助他们建立学习的成就感和自信心，使他们在学习过程中发展综合语言运用能力，提高人文素养，增强实践能力„„。教育教学过程，不仅是“传道、授业、解惑”的过程，而且也是师生情感交流，心灵碰撞的过程，更是学生沐浴教育爱的过程，德国著名教育家第斯多惠说过：“教育的艺术不在于传授知识和本领，而在于激励、唤醒和鼓舞。”所以，在教育教学过程中，首先应开启学生蒙昧的心扉。而微笑就是那把开启的钥匙。

有一首歌中唱到：“请把我的歌带回你的家，请把你的微笑留下”。是啊，微笑是多么神奇的语言，它无需成本却创造出许多价值，有时它是理解是尊重；有时它是信任是支持；有时它是赞扬是鼓励；有时它更让人感到温暖和体贴。我相信，在任何时空下，微笑的力量都能直抵心灵。作为一种心灵交流艺术的教育教学活动又怎能少了微笑的装点呢？

有人说微笑是教师最美丽的语言。是的，微笑是一种人格魅力的展示，教师的笑容更是一剂良药，可以化解学生的情绪，可以抚慰学生忐忑的心灵。亲切的笑容在教育教学活动中有不可估量的作用：

一 拉近师生间的距离

作为教师，微笑有着无穷的教育魅力。教师在教学中的主导情绪应是快乐的，能通过情感所具有的感染功能，以教师的快乐情绪来影响和引发学生的快乐情绪。教师微笑着面对学生，能给学生一种宽松的师生交往人际环境，使学生感受到教师的理解、关心、宽容和激励。教师的微笑是内向学生的兴奋剂，使他们得到大胆的鼓励，敢于去表现自己；教师的微笑是

外向好动学生的镇静剂，使他们得到及时的提醒，意识到自己的言行需要控制和自律。课堂上，教师的微笑能够活跃课堂氛围，活跃学生思维，活跃学生的情绪。试想一下，如果当教师绷着脸或表情冷漠，或怒气冲冲地走进教室时，学生定会感到情绪压抑，气氛紧张。而当教师带着微笑，怀着喜悦的心情走进教室里，学生会倍感亲切、温暖，快乐之情油然而生，能使他们敞开心扉，更好的接受新的信息。在教学中，我深有体会，如每节课前，我都会让学生唱首英语歌曲和朗诵一段英语儿歌，如果教师神情漠然的站在一边，即使歌曲是轻松优美的，孩子们的演唱却是死气沉沉，毫无欢快之感，相反，如果老师和学生一起尽情欢唱，并能带着学生做动作，学生的情绪一下子就被调动起来，而老师也会被他们所感染。可见，快乐的情绪不仅对学生的学习活动有促进作用，对教师的教学活动也有相应的促进效果，快乐的教学气氛是师生共同创设、共同调节的。

这个世界上，你给别人一个什么表情，别人就回报给你一个什么表情。教师为维护师道尊严而成天板着脸已成为过去式，现在我们需要的是师生间的平等交流，没有笑容的教师是难以受到学生欢迎的，真诚友善的微笑能使学生感到亲切和温暖，从而达到很好的教育效果。

二、亲切的微笑、丰富的身势语言吸引学生的情感注意。

在我的课堂教学中，“微笑”是贯穿始终的表情，通常我面带微笑环视教室走进课堂，随着一声“Good morning”或轻松的“Hi”，便开始了课堂教学。随着课堂教学的开展，自然的运用身体语言来配合教学，如通过面部表情去吸引学生，用点头或幽默动作给学生以鼓励、勇气或提示。在hungry full tired sleep这类单词时，教师先用夸张的动作引出，使学生很快就理解了，然后再让学生在边学边动中操练，而在教授

happy,sad,cry时，我则充分利用了面部表情，夸张的表情和动作，既加深了学生的记忆，又创造了轻松的课堂气氛。

三、帮助学生树立学习信心，提高学习兴趣。

大多数学生，尤其是后进生，都有一定的自卑感，但同时又有很强的自尊心，教师要尊重学生，允许他们出差错，用鼓励的微笑来代替严厉的指责，多一点宽容和耐心，学生会更有克服困难的勇气和热情。

记得有一次中午在教室里批改作业。打开Ａ生的作业本，句型题错得不堪入目。我立刻感觉火在往上窜，给他开过那么多次“小灶”了，他居然还是乱做一通。于是阴沉着脸叫他上来订正。他看着我的脸色已有些手足无措了，加上我严厉的质问，结果订正出来错得更离谱。我又急又气，停下手中的活，不住地盘问他,他倒好，我越着急他越糊涂，到最后索性连a b c d 也不会了。我当时的心情简直难以言表，只觉得自己眼泪都快掉出来了。我没好气地把本子一推，说：“你自己下去慢慢看吧，我真不知道怎么教你！”过了一会儿，他又来了：“老师，我懂了：“I can dance,what can you do?_---I can make a puppet.”我抬起头，奇怪地问：“那怎么刚刚问了你这么多遍，你都说不出来呢？”他没说话，两个手一直在揉他的衣服角，我突然意识到，本来就胆小的他刚才肯定被我凶巴巴的样子吓得够呛，在我连珠炮似的问话中恐怕早已紧张得连思考都忘记了，更或者根本就连我在问什么都没有听进去了吧，哪还能回答得出什么问题来。自责之后，我告诉自己，剩下的这几道题一定要面带微笑，尽量用柔和的语气去引导他思考。果然，他不那么紧张了，思路也就顺畅了很多。事后，我反思自己的行为，觉得实在很不应该。《论语·述而》中有语：抑为学之不厌，诲人不倦，则可谓之而矣。是啊，我怎么可以因为学生接受能力的差异而对他们大呼小叫呢？孜孜不倦，微笑教学才是我最应该做的，也是解决问题最好的办法啊！

四、引导学生树立正确的人生观。

教师是学生最近的榜样，教师的一言一行都会对学生产生潜移默化的影响，能微笑地面对每一个学生的教师，他（她）的学生必定也是能微笑地面对身边的每一个人每一件事的。

想起法国作家查尔斯·贝多的一件佚事：九岁的他到爷爷家过圣诞节，院子里的一棵无花果树似乎已经死了，树皮干枯，树枝一碰就嘎吱嘎吱断落下来。他几次让爷爷把树砍了，爷爷却微笑着说：“说不定它是死了，也说不定它到春天会复活呢！冬天里不要砍树！”果然，到了春天，这棵树又发出了嫩绿的枝芽，与其他树无异了。所以在教育教学中，我不断地提醒自己要记住：不要在冬天里砍树！对学生多一些微笑，再多一些耐心，就是给学生，也是给自己多一份希望，在多一份微笑，耐心地等待过后会是充满希望的春天。

情感是教师和学生之间互相作用的桥梁和润滑济，情感是打动心灵的秘诀，是打开人的心灵的一把金钥匙。“教贵情深”，有感情就会增加教学的魅力，学生往往因爱你而爱上了英语这门学科，在浓浓的情感氛围中，定会收到预想不到的好效果。曾经听一位优秀教师讲过：看学生是否喜欢这门课，关键是看老师的魅力有多大。如果当学生一看到教师就讨厌，就不用说喜欢这门课了。虽然听起来，我们感到这很幼稚，但是小孩子的思想却是如此的纯真。

但是在实际工作中，要微笑地面对每一个学生有时真的难以做到。有学生迟迟交不起作业、有学生屡屡破坏纪律、有学生三番五次说谎„„，这种时候又有几人还能将微笑挂在脸上呢？我真切地感到，当一切顺心如意的时候，微笑只是一种本能，在面对考验的时候，微笑则是一种修养，一种毅力，一种精神。我们教师应该努力提高这种修养并逐渐将之上升为一种情绪本能，一种职业自觉。为了孩子们天真灿烂的笑容，让我们也多一些微笑吧！
